That's a test! Great analysis. Some questions:
1) On your experience so far, what about the noise? Do you think recent 70mm fans are / can be quieter than the original 40mm in the Fusion? For me, the interest is more that of noise, not so much the heat. Heat was great before I swaped to a SSD instead of HD, but now the external heat is barely noticiable (most likely heat sinks are also running cooler now). I can try to measure my Fusion, but I don't know how you measured it (just with a conventional 'human' thermometer?)
2) I haven't heard of the 'new' Fusion PSU board. Any link or comment? (certainly, I have not read the whole site, sorry)
And a possible word of alert: The temperature was measured with Fusion open? I am unsure how the airflow will behave with the 70mm fan in the position you show once the chasis is closed. Maybe its action is not so significant.
But above all, so many thanks for sharing this valuable info.

I can try to measure my Fusion, but I don't know how you measured it (just with a conventional 'human' thermometer?) I have seen large thin quiet fans listed before and I am searching for a suitable one, with the power supply dropped from 12v to 5v on the 70mm thereby reducing the rpm's was about the same as the 40mm. It seemed to me that the hard drive was making as much or more noise than the fan.
Heat was measured using a a digital thermometer with a heat sensor attatched to the heat sinks

True the Fusion was open, but the difference was measured with and without the 70mm with the Fusion open and with the case closed the air pulled in by the 70mm fan comes in thru the opening between the case and the keybed.
But above all, so many thanks for sharing this valuable info.

In my 8HD it was clearly the HD the biggest source of noise. Much quieter now as an 8SSD.
