Jordan Rudess has some awesome sounding distorted guitars on his keyboards. It would be a blast if someone could create some that sound as good as those.
I already know about the Hollow Sun pack that has guitars and they are appreciated, but we musicians know there is better to be made.
If anyone creates some realistic distortion guitar sounds that are better, I'd appreciate it if you could share them.
Thanks in advance.

In my experience it actually comes down to performance, rather than the raw sample quality. And JR is a master of synth performance, making maximum use of bend, mod, etc. His standard bend setup is 2 semitones up (to re-create string bends) and a full octave down (for those fret-dive effects)
He also layers stuff up massively, so different playing styles bring up different sounds (His feedback layer is triggered by aftertouch)
I would suggest that you look at creating a mix with several of the guitars available. The fusion can map up to 8 discrete programs in a mix, and you can map those by velocity, aftertouch, keyboard position, mod wheel, well pretty much anything.

No doubt with how Jordan Rudess is able to do what he does, he is a true master of the arts. EastWestSamples is also a true master of arts when creating sounds for independent use by other artist. Check out the EastWestSamples "Quantum Leap Ministry Of Rock". With the guitar sounds that HollowSun made, cannot even come close to what EastWestSamples "Quantum Leap Ministry Of Rock" can do, but... the only problem with the "Quantum Leap Ministry Of Rock", those sounds are already configured into a standalone application. Perhaps HollowSun could develop a unique collaboration with EastWestSamples, like HollowSun did with Bela D Media, so that we Alesis Fusion HD users will have use of an extend library of guitar sounds. If not, maybe someone with experience, could create some guitar sounds such as the likes of "Quantum Leap Ministry Of Rock", this would be awesome to have for use on the Alesis Fusion HD. Thanks, Vykenmax ;D

No doubt with how Jordan Rudess is able to do what he does, he is a true master of the arts. And lets not forget that up until about a year and a half ago, most of his signature sounds all came from a Kurzweil K2600 with something like 64Mb of sample ROM. I don't know the EW library you are referring to, but I bet they use a bunch of keyswitching to get different articulations. Something the fusion's sample engine can't do. It really isn't just about raw samples.

Although, I do believe a raw guitar sound could be made. A guitar player that uses distortion to produce a power chord, could be made in the form of a SF2 and sound just as realistic. I am almost certain of that.

I met Jan Hammer a few years ago and he said the secret to his sound was a Pro-Co RAT Distortion Pedal, which he was introduced to by Jeff Beck. He said it really didn't matter which keyboard he used as long as it had pitch bend and mod wheels and his RAT pedal. On a Jordan Rudess note, the "Rude Guitar" patch on the Ensoniq SD-1 was created as an homage to both Jordan and Jan Hammer who always characterized his sound as rude; the mod wheel is set for the "dive-bomb" effect. Check out the tune "X-Ray Specs" at this link.

There are already Distorted Guitars fusionized.
Check for the Factory Preset "Lead Guitar MW AT" (ROM 1), "Dist Rhythm Guitar 2" (ROM 2) and "Dist Rhythm Guitar 3" (ROM 3). Except the first one where MW is used to simulate Volume Pedal fade in effects the Programs should be improved with custom Controller assignment to make it.
And on the "Fusion SAMPLES by kpr", that´s me, you can find two Lead Guitar multisamples: "Big Jim Lead G" and "E Guit BigsBy".
Finally you can select clean guitar samples too and add one or two of the Insert effects, for example Stack Drive Distortion.
This is not all, check the FM section for clean lead sounds and add one of the Inserts distortion effects for sweet overdrive lead sounds, perhaps even better than a distorted guitar multisample and assign the Control Knobs with Cutoff, OSC Frequency, ENV Attack etc. and add the Insert Effect Tube Overdrive.
Everything else is playing style.
Cheers
Klaus

I went back and took a look and listen and I'm now on the right track again thanks to you. Some clean sounds that I am really impressed with is the Aquarium Guitar, Picking Dreams and the Andalusia. I'll have to re-check the KPR guitar sounds and distorted guitar sounds. Again thanks, Vykenmax ;D
