The tide has washed more stuff into my studio. One is a single oscillator poly synth from the 80's, the other is not. One thing I got for free, the other I bought. One is requiring a great deal of effort to restore it to function, the other is very user friendly...

The SixTrack is a nice sounding synth, despite being just one osc per voice. One of the first multi-timbral synths too ... six monosynths as I recall. I hope you get it up and running. Samples please Steve

Ah sweet. Back in '84, hanging out with some guitarist friends in downtown Orlando at a music store, just as we were getting ready to leave, I was lulled by some magical sounds into the keyboard section. I was spellbound by the colorful keyboards with their other-worldly sounds, and since I had saved about a $1000 from my first job at Home Depot, I fell victim and bought my first synth.
It almost, almost, so close was the Sequential Circuits. It had sounds I liked, and better yet, you could have independent musical lines looping, up to 6 at a time, and hence the name the Six Trak.
Alas, a week later after a few more visits to solidify my decision, I went with the Roland Juno 106. That keyboard's knob and sliders laid out analog-style gave me a solid foundation for subtractive synthesis. Being in a pop-metal band, it allowed me to dial in the tones I needed for Van Halen, Rush, Dio and such.
Good luck with your new project mps. Looks like a fun investment.

Gotta get a new battery in it so it will hold some presets and then we will see about some samples. You can stack all 6 oscillators like on the Akai AX-60. HUMMMM.

Geez! I got the thing working today and loaded a bank of patches in and guess what? It sounds like an Akai AX-60! They must have the same chips or something because on most of the presets it is really uncanny how much they sound alike. Not bad for a free synth. So far I spent $17.00 on it to replace the battery and for some switch cleaner. I do wish that I had taken a picture before I started cleaning it now. It was unbelievable how filthy it was. The Hob Nobs are pretty good. heard about them in SOS in the Studio Rescue articles for years and now I know what they are talking about.

I hope you've also tried McVities Digestives. I don't know if they're as well known in the States as they are over here, but they're the real winners. Don't let the name put you off into thinking they're only worthwhile if you have plumbing trouble

I remember coming very close to buying a new SixTrack when they came out. I can't remember what I bought instead though.
