I spent several days rearranging my gear to improve ergonomics. Then took several nice photos like this and went to bed... About 1:00AM there was a terrible noise upstairs and I raced in just behind my dog to find that the shelf above the pegboard had failed. It and the contents came down... Resulting in... There is a broken key on my Fusion and another on my Ion! DOHHHHH!

Ouch!! Sorry to see that Rod. Drop Justin a line (or call him) - see what can be arranged for replacement keys for the Ion and Fusion. Steve

I almost put the Fusion where the Ion is and left the desk for my Mac and the interface. My Mac would have been sitting exactly where that key got broken on my Fusion! Could you imagine ? I am really glad It ended up on top of my R2 unit on the other side of the setup...

Ouch! Man, sorry to see what happened to your Fusion but I'm glad your laptop wasn't there instead. I hope you get everything straightened away soon.

I just had time to clean up the mess so I could get to the Fusion and turn it on. It totally works! Even the broken key. Even the aftertouch.

Feck!!! I hope you get it sorted out easily enough.
I know that this was a bit of a freak accident but it's perhaps a reminder to us all to check the security of the fixtures and fittings of everything around our gear?

I was able to take the Ion apart over the weekend and glue the part that was broken on the middle C key and put it back together. It works just fine now.
The Fusion is off to Alesis today since it had some problems that were beyond my technical ability.

So I got the Fusion back and right out of the box it had ANOTHER broken key! I sent it back with a broken G in the top octave and it came out of the box with that one replaced, and the lower D broken off. I just ordered a new D key and will replace it myself. It has been away too long and I don't want to risk further damage by ham-handed delivery drivers. I moved the Philicorda organ in on saturday and re-arranged by crap, yet again. The Elka Panther moved over behind the V-drums.

Aint that some crap. I had a desk for my Studio delivered today and the box was beaten up so bad it's amazing anything was in it and undamaged. the bad thing is that I'm missing a set of screws for the monitor stands. Boy this burns my butt. Anyway this is the desk I've just recieved. www.quiklok.com/catalog/?p=productsMore&iProduct=190&sName=Z-555It's pretty deep. I wasn't expecting that but atleast I wont run out of room. I'll be adding the two pairs of ZM-97 soon so I can have my 2488mkii and my MPC1000 in front of me and at an angle for easier reach and visibilty. I've wanted this desk for a while and when I found a used one for $148 I couldn't pass it up. I was not willing to pay full price for one of these no matter how much I wanted it. Steve, thanks for posting pics of your lab. It inspired me to do my studio in a similar manner where everything that I used is within reach and right in front of me. Ahh, simplicity. Any how check out the pics in the link and hopefully once I replace the missing screws I'll gladly post some pics of my small studio but functional studio.

Rather than risk another trip back to Alesis and put my 6HD at risk for more injury, I ordered a new D key and replaced it myself today. I also discovered a broken part on the top C key that was making it stand too high. I fixed that while I was at it. Now I have almost everything back to normal.
