Hi Everyone!
Had my 8HD a couple of weeks now and have downloaded the vstream moVinpro sounds. They are really good. Hollow sun sounds were already on the synth, though I don't know if I have all of them.
I really wanted a full 88 weighted keys and am so pleased with the feel of the keyboard (Black keys were initially set louder than white but this was easilly cured by changing a setting).
The keyboard is for my own use at home for recording and arranging my own compositions purely as a hobby.
I wondered if someone could throw some light on couple of things?
When I first switch the Synth on the screen shows some error messages. By pressing OK I can bypass these and the synth starts fine. An example would be 'Error (VEng) Load Request Refused Error Code (0x0701000F)'
Also on a couple of occassions on start up the screen has flickered with lines across it with a blank display (just the blue background). Then the usual on screen information has appeared but still with the flicker.
The error messages have only started after I have made my own mixes, recorded my own Songs (No audio tracks) and downloaded new sounds to the hard drive. They were not present when I first used the synth from new.
The flickering screen didn't start until after the first few weeks of use and is not happening at the moment.
Many Thanks,
Mike

What setting did you change to make the black keys not as loud? Other than that, do you have the latest OS version? That would be the first thing to look at. Even if you do, an OS reinstallation might be a good thing to do, since something might have gotten corrupted (kind of like reinstalling Windows always solves some issues...) Just make sure you back up first!

Thanks for the advice.
To make the black keys not as loud select Global/General/Velocity curve.
There are five possible settings: LIN/EXP/LOG/EXP+LOG/Fixed.
My keyboard came set to LOG which makes the black keys louder than the white ones.
Obviously the 'Fixed' setting is what it is.
All of the other 3 settings seem to cure the problem to me.
I'm not really sure which one is the best or how it changes the sound but switching to one of these settings seems to cure the problem. The quality of sound is different in each setting.
Hope this helps,
Mike

If you set it to "fixed" then you wont have any velocity at all, whether you strike the keys soft or hard the sound will always be the same.

I had the same problem.
It's basically due to your Fusion loading up too many large samples at once, from when you last turned it off. It could be for example that your loading a large movin pro samples in program, and then the holy grail piano and other sounds in mix mode on top of that.
To correct this there's a setting in global, to load only the last sound used. Otherwise you can always upgrade the RAM then you can load more samples at a time, but the setting works fine for me.

This makes perfect sense - will be trying it in future. Many Thanks.
Also, do you have any experience of upgrading the RAM. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, and then again it might not be neccessary to do this anyway.
Thanks again,
Mike.

Not personally as I'm new to the fusion. Plently of guides on how to do it, but as long as you don't mind opening up the Fusion you shouldn't have any probs. I don't think its necessary like you say, unless you want to load lots of sounds in memory, or use very large samples.

Regarding my comment above "Black keys were initially set louder than white but this was easilly cured by changing a setting". Unfortunately this is not so. Altering the settings can help mask this problem but not cure it.
I think I must have heard what I wanted to hear, that is the problem sorted, coupled with some compensation in my playing style to allow for the problem.
Increasing the velocity scaling reduces the problem but makes expressive playing more difficult.
Does anyone have any other ideas regarding this.
Its such a shame as I love everything else about the keyboard.
Mike
