Jumping the gun slightly as I'm waiting my 8hd to arrive from ebay with baited breath - but hello there anyway ;D
Should it need attention who would you recommend in the UK to service/repair the unit? Do Alesis still support it technically?
Hope to contribute to this community of course as well as asking a few tech questions.
Cheers

Thanks Steve. Just wondered as they have been taken over etc. Can't see me fixing it myself somehow.
Will buy Nebulae when I've recovered from the Fusion purchase itself - it sounds amazing.
Itching to get playing now...LOL - just hope it doesn't arrive in bits!
Tim :-)

Good luck with your Fusion but, unless it's been advertised as not functioning properly or damaged, I'd have thought your first recourse if it needs attention would be the person who sold it to you on eBay. If the synth has some sort of technical problem, they should be telling you that before you buy.

Thanks Steve. Just wondered as they have been taken over etc. Numark took Alesis over long before Fusion which is a product as a result of the Numark takeover. Alesis floundered because of Andromeda, a monstrous project that was, I think, FAR bigger then they imagined. I am not sure but I think the Masterlink contributed too - great product but a new concept that wasn't embraced initially by the market. Anyway, they went into receivership and Numark stepped in. They finished off Andromeda (surprisingly) and put money behind Masterlink, etc.. But Fusion was born of the new Alesis and Numark/Akai/Alesis UK are well capable of sorting her out of she become ill! Can't see me fixing it myself somehow. Some things like a faulty drive are user-replaceable. Even a blown PSU and such like (get the part from Alesis UK). Memory CAN be user-installed too and even things like a flickering display may (MAY) be nothing more than a loose ribbon connector. But hopefully, you won't have such problems. Cheers, Steve

Steve, I have read that the Alesis HR24 was the culprit for the Alesis bankrupcy. They expected the unit to be as successful as the original ADAT and be the company's flagship product, and it didn't sell much at all.

That didn't help either.
And it did sell ok actually but whereas the original ADAT pretty much had no competition, the HR24 had ProTools, Logic, CuBase and others to contend with.
But it's still available and still sells steadily. Many go to mobile recording facilities I believe either as the main or as a backup MTR. I gather as well that they did well in the far east, in China, Vietnam, etc., especially as an inexpensive MTR for TV post-production.

Thanks for your welcome and info - unfortunately the Fusion for sale turned out to be either a scam or the seller backing out. After a stressful delay I got my money back through Paypal.
Will prob still be looking for another at the right price when the funds available again.
