so ppl, tell me how u like ur Holy Grails tweaked, just lemme know. I know how I like mine tweaked - just add lil more bass. But wot do u guys do tho? The Holy Grail Piano is quite good in general, and I used I for every piano part on my latest CD and it worked. But of course there is one major problem: The v-switch between the mf and ff sample can be bother because the missing f sample. So what to do? You can't do much, I tried to use just the mf and ff samples and did the dynamics with the filter velocity setting. It helps quite good for sure, but wasn't that solution. Someone in the other Fusion forum did a lot of experiments with the EQs, and, believe it or not, it helps. Here are the results, and it's worth to spend the 5 minutes of setting the parameters to find it out: Fusion Piano EQ Setting by theyarecomingforyou Master EQ Low Shelf: 257.86Hz / 7.5 dB Low Mid: 354.05Hz / -2.5 dB / 1.00 High Mid: 2.51kHz / 9.2 dB / 1.30 High Shelf: 5.81kHz / -7.0 dB Insert 1 (2-band, 2-shelf PEQ) Low Shelf: 350.88Hz / 5.5 dB High Shelf: 7.02kHz / 3.5 dB Band 1: 1.81kHz / -3.5 dB / 1.00 Band 2: 4.49kHz / 3.5 dB / 1.12 Insert 2 (4-band PEQ) Band 1: 453.93Hz / 4.0 dB / 1.25 Band 2: 5.15kHz / 6.5 dB / 0.50 Band 3: 2.58kHz / -6.0 dB / 1.25 Band 4: 8.47kHz / 4.5 dB / 1.00 I tried it and I was pretty excited about the positive effect. The switch between the mf and ff samples is smoother and the entire instrument is brighter, more powerful and playable with a bit more dynamic range. Good luck! Klaus

I have a sweetwater Fusion and it came with some sounds plus a really nicely tweaked Holy Grail...absolutely no harsh velocity switches and it works well. What is the deal with those sounds? Would it be ethical to share at least the tweaked holy grail piano since it is only a program preset and not new samples? I think that a lot of people would enjoy the tweaked Holy Grail if they had it.

It doesn't seem like there should be a problem with that. Personally I'd like to check it out, but I wouldn't want to do anything illegal.
Steve! or kpr! What's the verdict?

If Nate were to post EQ settings, much like kpr did above, what is that called? Certainly not copyright infringement, esp if Nate tweaked a couple settings of his own. The question I guess is not so much the legal aspect, but the ethical "flavor.".... does it seem like the right thing to do? And we all have differing opinions on that.
For example, many more probably feel more adverse to jpvideo's posting of obscure youtube videos (aren't those copyrighted, no?, yes?) yet the objector probably just doesn't watch them much less post protests on it. On the same grounds, I wonder whether Steve or kpr's opinions on this are any more relevant, other than the fact that this is Steve's website and he can do whatever he want with it.
The whole notion of copyright is in flux. Hiphop, youtube, guitar tabs, MIDI files, soundfounts, chord progressions, parody songs, internet quotes, Alesis Fusion and Ion/Micron/Andromeda filters modelled off of vintage filters.... you name it. The recent case of the RIAA singling out and slapping outrageous fines on the one housewife is another example of what's in flux, what's legal vs ethical, and what is just downright ridiculous.

Hmmmmmmmm. ;D OK! etherealnate! I'd like to check it out so change the output level or something, rename it, and shoot it to me in an e-mail, if you're willing. I'll try it out, and if I don't like it, I'll send it back! Or, perhaps compare the differences with the original, and send me the specs - again, in a privet e-mail if your willing to do so. I don't really see how this would be any different than some of the other "tweeked" programs, including a bank of "Holly" Grails, that have been posted on this forum, before. But, I could be wrong! I don't consider myself to be unethical. And I'm not just looking for freebies, or trying to be a jerk. And I do respect the work and efforts of others. Thanks kev

Well seeing as there hasn't really been a response to this, I'm probably going to post it at some point. My reason being that it's only a program preset and not new samples, and Sweetwater has nothing to loose at this point since it's discontinued and they have nothing to do with it anymore. I'll wait to see if there are any objections or at least some more open debate about it. If so, I'll probably just raise the high eq one notch and then no one can say anything Seems to me that us Fusion users are in our own little world now any way. We should be sharing everything that is free.

I managed to find the how to set the master eq settings, but how can I adjust the insert 1 and insert 2 settings to what Klaus suggested?

Insert effects can be used single and multiple, just change Configuration from Standard to 1+2 and then you can select each Insert effect with the EDIT Synth Insert parameter.

Thanks kpr... I tried those parameters and HG sounds much better now. It was OK before but a little dull I think.

Good news for those who are still on the search.
Since a while I am working on a decent multi-velocity Grand Piano and it looks quite good that it is possible to create a Grand Piano with dynamics without typical V-Switch problem. Currently I try to fit a mono version into the standard 60 MB RAM and if it works I will add the stereo version for those who have a RAM expanded Fusion. Certainly I will do the same with the CP70, the Rhodes and the Wurlitzer.
Stay tuned!

Yes, and I will release the final version within the next few days.
The maximum version is 180 MBs, is in stereo and comes with 5 velocity switches ff, f, mf, p, pp and is fine for those who have a RAM-Expansion.
And the largest version for standard Fusions with a 64 MB RAM is 3 velocity switches f, mf, p and is in mono. It is also possible to make own combinations for personal purposes.
I am rather happy with the results so far!
