Thanks very much and I don't want to seem ungrateful but crikey - I wish people would stop using rapid(not)share - it's a real pain unless you sign up and I don't want or need another one of those.

i have to become a Premium user.i.e.pay money! Oh! Sorry ... but come on! How much? £6 ... less than a round of beers with your mates Or looked at another way... 27p per sound. Christ - you can't buy a bar of chocolate for that! Sorry but this winds me up no end - this sense of 'entitlement' to sounds for free. Everywhere I look on the bloody music forums, it's "Where can I get XYZ samples ... FOR FREE?" To put this into perspective, my daughter (13) is a pretty good violinist (Grade 8, member of the UK National Children's Orchestra) - we just spent £2,000 on a new fiddle (and that's cheap!) and a set of strings will set us back £70 (and they need regular changing) and that's not to mention £40 a week for her lessons. She needs a new bow because the £400 one we bought for her is not good enough. Fortunately, her violin teacher has lent her a better one ... worth £1,500 ... for a bow!! And you're moaning about £6.00 ... for 22 hand-crafted FM sounds (arguably the trickiest form of synthesis in Fusion) which Saturn has generously offered to share with our community? Purleeeeze! <LATER> I have just downloaded them ... for free - but I had to wait for a minute until Rapidshare allowed me to. I could avoid the wait by paying for a Premium account. So it strikes me that your complaint is on two levels - you expect instant download and can't be arsed to wait but at the same time you can't be arsed to pay for instant download either. Jeeeezuz! I am sorry if this offends ... but at the same time I don't care if it does because statements like "OMG, I have to pay money?!! " are deeply insulting to people who use their time and experience and skill to provide sounds for others! Some people have to get their priorities sorted! Steve

I did manage to download the sounds for free and they are excellent as usual.I don't mind paying for sounds to the ARTIST,just not to the download site, especially as sendspace.com and others are free.I didn't mean to upset Hollow sun or anyone else.Thank you to Saturn for the great sounds.I especially like the organs!

Download bandwidth costs money and Saturn (presumably) chose the best option for him ... which was RapidShare. This is essentially free but the service imposes limitations (such as waiting until you can download) but you can still get it for free - as you have done. This incident had me thinking to host stuff with my reseller such that the 'artist' could maybe get some do$h for their efforts but I would have to charge €9.00 - €6.00 to the 'artist' and the extra as a % bandwidth fee to my on-line reseller. And that could get complicated to the point of being unmanageable from my point of view. It also occurred to me to host the stuff here on my own servers for free but I would have to pay for the bandwidth as well as disk space, etc., so I'd be out of pocket At least with RapidShare, people can get it for free but the downside is that they may have to wait a minute or two before they can. Not exactly a hardship. If there are better alternatives (such as the SpendSpace you mention) then maybe this is what should be used. But I'll bet that these have their limitations too because there is no such thing as a free lunch when it comes to internet bandwidth which is still a relatively expensive commodity. Cheers, Steve

A few points... 1. I agree that Rapidshare is now a VERY annoying method to use, especially with places like SendSpace and my personal favourite, MediaFire. However, I got Saturn's sounds with little difficulty. 2. JP, that was a bit harsh and not what I'd expect from you. At least grab the sounds and have a listen before passing a presumptuous critique. 3. Saturn, some good sounds there and many worth using. Still encouraging to see users constantly creating new stuff, especially from one of the Fusion's more difficult sections. Well done. Finally, as Steve has said, bandwidth costs money, plain & simple. As does storage. Steve & I both own our own websites and pay for storage and bandwidth. Even though, for example, I have unlimited storage and bandwidth on my account, it is all subject to a fair usage policy. I constantly monitor the levels and try and keep it reasonable. Streaming my music online is a constant drain on the site, but worth it. Steve, on the other hand, can regale you with stories of many GB's of bandwidth being sucked daily from Hollow Sun. It's not a cheap business... well, not for us!
