Hi everyone and happy new year!
I live in Connecticut and work as a mason contractor, married 20 years.
I have owned several synths over the years , started with a Kawai K1 II then bought a Kurzweil K2000, Roland JV 880 , Roland XP-50, Korg 05/RW , Korg Poly 61 , Ensoniq ESQ-1, Alesis QS (orig) , Alesis QS7.1.
Of all these units i have had i never learned to actually play any of them. I always got so caught up creating new sounds i just never took the time to practice. I spent thousands with good intentions and eventualy ended up losing interest to pursue other hobbies. Well after about 10 years of not keeping up with what was going on in synthesis, I recently stumbled upon a friend (dont worry he was un-injured) who was playing with softsynths and i was blown away by the emulations of the Arp 2600 and Moog modular. Needless to say i have been bitten by the bug once again (I guess you never build up a immunity). So with a renewed interest I picked up a Akai MPK25 USB controller and a used Fatar Studio 900 88 key controller and have been loving the soft synths. Of course these were not enough i just HAD to have a hardware synth too.
I picked up a Alesis Fusion 6HD the other day at a local music store for a really great price, it was the store demo and even came with a 90 day warranty. (Im not sure how good that is since this is discontinued hopefully i will never have to find out.) I haven't had a whole lot of time with it yet. I did download the Hollow Sun packs and love them as well as some others. Today im going to play with the sampler and see if i can wrap my head around it.
Im pretty excited so far with this synth and hope to learn as much as i can about it. This time though i am committing to learn to play the darn thing as well as create new sounds
This 6HD came with the standard 64mb ram , and a 80gb hard drive. OS version 1.23. Honestly I have not been so taken with the potential of a synth since the K2000 as i am with this Fusion.
I hope one day i can contribute something useful to the fusion community.
