Looks great! I never heard one like this, does it sound as good as it looks? Better! I am in between Labs at the moment - a new desk is arriving (from Germany) on Friday so I have to strip everything out and rebuild whereupon the Dotcom will take its rightful place (along with the Roland MKS70 'Super JX' rack JX10 I have also recently bought). It's about time - I have let this place become a real shithole over time (which has its own charm) so I am going back to my roots with an all analogue sound generating system in an ergonomically designed environment to create ever more interesting library for Kontakt. I am also expanding more with graphics for ever more interesting Kontakt GUIs (and a plan to move into iPad apps). But as a result of all this change/expansion, I've not had time to really play with my new toys (and my daughter has just come out of hospital following rather major spinal surgery) but I've had a quick fiddle and the Dotcom modular is, shall we say, 'mighty'! It's a customised Portable 22 that Dotcom sell and the previous owner went for the Moog filter (as well as the multi-mode 'State Variable' filter) plus the Clipper/Rectifier (to modify raw waveforms in interesting ways ... and not just crude distortion so beloved of modern DSP synths). The only thing lacking is the Ring Modulator module but I'll probably ditch the MIDI interface (and go for a Kenton ProSolo instead - much better) and pop a ring mod in its place. But synthesizers.com are fabulous things. I've wanted one for a long time but while the purchase cost has been been reasonable and affordable, the import duties, etc., to get them from the US to the UK have been prohibitive. But this was a real bargain on eBay and I managed to get it shipped fairly reasonably. For anyone seriously committed to synthesis, dotcom systems are fantastic. They take the original Moog modular designs and improve on them and they sound wonderful. Forget paying stupid prices for 'vintage' gear - this thing pisses all over those old dinosaurs. So yes - big changes here and all for the better. Much excitement to follow. Just not looking forward to the rebuild. It'll be worth it though! Onwards and upwards! Cheers, Stephen

Sounds good. Yeah, sometimes major changes are necessary and removing old stuff too. Good luck with all the ventures

Man I hope your daughters ok.
Having had multiple FAILED scoliosis/Kyphosis operations I can relate. I know this is a private matter, and I pray that this is the only surgery she ever has.
Me and my parents had no way to know in 1974 that there is a 50%+ failure rate for fusions of the spine! I wish I had stopped at one operation and lived with that instead of the 7 that I and my family endured.
The other thing I learned later in life is that, surgeons do surgery. And if you say NO and try some alternative treatment like bracing , THEY DON'T GET PAID!!! He or she would have not gotten paid the $10,000.00 per procedure, if, we had decided to try the (POO Pooed by the surgeon) brace option.
Please feel to contact me privately if you have any questions about my experience. Otherwise all the best to her and your family and your new lovely knobs.

Thanks for the offer (and sorry to hear of your woes).
She had scoliosis and has had herself straightened up with the assistance of some titanium scaffolding. She's 14 and now is about the right time for it.
She's doing just fine, is home (the op was only last week on July 4th, same day as we were celebrating getting rid of the pesky colonials!) and she's up and about ... and has gained over an inch in height!!
She was playing 'Claire de Lune' on piano this afternoon!
She's sore but being very stoic about it.

Thank you for sharing that with me. I was also 14 at the time and salute another titanium warrior.
Please tell her what the Great Canadian philosopher, Red Green often says.
"Keep your stick (Bow) on the ice").
All the best to her and your family and thanxs Steve for all your Fusionly advice and Synthsibility.
Stillslightlytaller
