Hi,
My name is Allen Smith. I bought my Fusion 6HD in July and then I found a 8HD in early August. It's nice having 2 because I can compare when I run into issues. The 8HD has OS version 1.24. It formats the CF card. Everything seems to work properly.
The 6HD has OS version 1.22. I tried to format the (2gb) CF card and it gave me an error (Cannot read PBR on CF. Invalid parameter to CF.). So I formatted it on the 8HD and loaded the OS 1.24 on the CF card from my computer. Restarted the 6HD by holding B and 7. The 6HD now says "Cannot find valid ROM Image file" (I did unzip and loaded the file on the card.). I want the 6HD to have OS 1.24 too.
Any ideas? Or can you point me to previous posts that addressed this issue? Having said all of that, I have compared this unit to the newer BIG 3 units? I already love the sounds on the 6HD and will work to resolve this issue. Plus, in addition to playing keys, I play the Yamaha WX5. Do I have ideas for the physical modeling engine??
Sorry for the long first post.
Thanks, Allen

Make sure it's 62.5MB not 55.5MB and since it says something, there's no broken pins.

Oh Sheet. Sorry. Welcome.
This site is stuffed with info on a synth that still surprises. It's deep, but rewarding, once you get to know how it works.
Welcome again

Thanks guys! After deeper examination, I found 2 bent pins on the connector. I tried to straighten them but that's just nuts! Will have to have the connector replaced.

Hi fusionty, sorry to hear that. It may seem nuts, but in my experience, those pins are suprisingly tolerant at being bent - and straightened. I've seen them flattened to the bottom of the socket and still made to stand up and work ok You'll need to to get eyeball to eyeball with the socket though and with good light. You'll need miniature long-nosed pliers and various small screwdivers to tease those pins back straight again. The eye is suprisingly good at determining when they are "straight" and correctly spaced. Definately worth an attempt IMHO Best parametric
