Yawn (next week - again?!)
The ORIGINAL post by C.S. is from Jun 2007 in that same forum about this SW.
Jun 2007 - now Jul 2012 (with annual inquires) That was FIVE years ago and he took (takes!) exception every time some seriously questioned him about it.
Just our luck it will finally come out right when the next Mac/Win OS no longer supports the Fusion file system - or there are no more operating Fusions. Then C.S. can, at least honestly at that point, blame Alesis for not seeing a decade into the future, or building a 500K hour MTBF end-item, or Apple or MS for lack of backward compatibility (or the Bush administration!)

Yeah bluesplayer - I reckon we are all tired of hearing about tomorrow . . Who was it who said "tomorrow never comes"? I think I asked about a year ago, which was just after the top-down rewrite from convertor to creator was announced . . . . The original version from the alesis site works fine for me at present on XP SP3 Though I have to say it DOESN'T seem to work on Vista64 HE - The program installs fine in the x86 Program Folder, and opens OK, but it WON'T create the <Archive> folder (which it does in XP) . . .and it then won't process anything . . . . Maybe its not designed to with Vista - I haven't checked . . . I guess we should just be thankful that CS continues to appreciate the Fusion enough to continue with the SW . . . At least we have something we can use - which is massively useful for those who like to make their own Programs. . . . I guess the Creator will be along when its ready . . . . Best Regards parametric

Maybe its not designed to with Vista - I haven't checked . . . After a bit of fiddling - it seems to work OK if you: Right-click on the executable and select <compatability> tab - and select <run as XP SP2> Also, check the <run as administrator> check box It will then create the necessary folders and perform correctly. Best Regards parametric

Iparametric I just tried it in Win 7 64 and it creates the Archive folder in the C:\PROGRAM FILES folder (not C:\PROGRAM FILES (x86) folder) so look at C:\Program Files\Alesis\Fusion Convertor\Fusion Archives\Default Archive And I just used it (Fusion Convertor 1.1 for the other readers who might be confused about which program we're talking about) on a sample SF2 file it creates the programs, samples, and muiltitsamples but i have not bothered moving to Fusion to see how well it converted. I suspect it works as it did XP I have a dual boot Win XP 32 and Win 7 64 (separate HDD's) now so I could try to see if identical if necessary . You might try the standard UNINSTALLING (edit registry -get rid of references, etc.) then doing a new clean install as administrator - I did NOT set any "compatibility modes" when I installed - I just did a straight install. good luck Larry

Hello,
On my Windows 7 64bits, without any special parameters, Fusion converter works fine but store the converted samples here :
C:\Documents and Settings\[Name of your computer]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Alesis\Fusion Convertor\Fusion Archives

Thanks <jmd> and <bluesplayer> . . . . This sort of info is invaluable for those starting out, and the rest of us for that matter . . . We all have to upgrade Windows eventually for various reasons - and its good to know we can still do Fusion Stuff - despite M$'s best efforts You are right, <bluesplayer> - I just checked in Programs - rather than programs x86 and the folders were there - so it all seems tickety-boo! Hopefully, Creator (when it arrives) will continue the good news . . . . Best Regards parametric

Hi Jesse,
good to hear, that someone does the beta testing ;-)
I'm just about to join you - do you know if you either purchase the WIN or the MAC version or are both included? I'm still not sure which platform I am going to use in my homestudio. So far I have a fully equipped Mac Mini with Logic Pro 9...
Cheers Martin

I just ordered it. Strange enough I had to add a shipping method although it's a download purchase. Merely 15 bucks for nothing... As well the download link doesn't work - I always get an error message... Did it work for you properly? Or does it still take some time to process the order finally? Update #1:Finally I could manage to download at least the WIN version. After completing the installation it refuses to start properly since then. This is the splash screen: And that's the error after confirming with "Continue" (don't have to mention that I have a permanent internet connection ;-)) The MAC version (a *.zip-file as well) seems to be corrupted as I cannot unpack it (neither under OS X nor unter WIN). I've already got in contact with the support of Chicken Systems and I'll keep you updated. Cheers
