Jesse,
You are one of the most helpful folks around on the Fusion especially on this HW stuff. There are others that are also very helpful as well so no one take offense - please.
But Is it your understanding from someone at Akai Pro Parts (or elsewhere) that these PSUs, and other parts are still available?
Or are these recently added pic’s just to show that the Akai parts were indeed the same as the Alesis parts?
I don’t need a PSU, display panel, or other parts for my 8HD but others might - so it might be helpful to clarify your understanding of current availability since you just posted these pic’s a few days ago.
Larry

Larry Larry the parts were available when I ordered them in February 2012. I have not checked recently, but anyone can call Akai Parts at 401-658-3131 ext 1407 to check on current availability. These parts are the same in the Fusion & MPC 5000 PSU Part number SPSHA33R4-058N PCB, CFL INVERTER (AC INVERTER) PART # 9-79-0365 & PCB CCFL DIMMER PART # 9-79-0366 Take care ... Jesse

About the Fusion PSU, There are only four different voltages coming off this PSU and they are marked right on top of the PSU PCB (Power Suppy Unit Printed Circuit Board)Pictures, Voltage Info & Akai Parts phone number in attached PDF file Better make that a 8 pin connector instead of a 7 pin connector since the PSU won't be physically grounded to the Alesis Fusion keyboard!Any Modifications you may make are at Your Own RiskI will edit the pdf later when I get a minute or two! About the Fusion PSU, There are only four different voltages coming off this PSU and they are marked right on top of the PSU PCB (Power Suppy Unit Printed Circuit Board)It would be easy to make the power supply external by using a 5 pin connector or 7 pin if you wanted to route the input power from the Fusion to the power supply.Alesis Fusion & MPC5000 SPSHA33R4-058N PSU Voltage Outputs Call Akai Parts at 401-658-3131 ext 1407 for current availabiltyBetter make that a 8 pin connector instead of a 7 pin connector since the PSU won't be physically grounded to the Alesis Fusion keyboard!Any Modifications you may make are at Your Own RiskI will edit the jpg later when I get a minute or two! Alesis Fusion affectionately known as "The Beast" I checked with Brian and making a PSU for the Fusion is unfortunately not in his area of expertise But the memory modules he makes for the Fusion & Akai MPC5000 are a real plus for Fusion & MPC5000 owners

Following your "PSU unavailable" scare above . . . . I sought out InMusic here in the UK today . . . [InMusic Brands (Europe) Tel. 01252-896-040] The phone was answered directly by a Human (I forgot to note his name) I explained that the part - (Alesis Part no. 9-79-0361) and (Akai Part no. SPSHA33R4-058N) are for the SAME PSU which is common to the Alesis Fusion (6HD and 8HD) AND the Akai MPC5000 . . . (A number of other parts ARE common too) He confirmed the commonality AND the fact that they had stock - so I ordered a "spare" for both my Fusions . . . With carriage and VAT they will be £80.03 Each - which is amazing - considering I've seen prices Stateside of $145 - $175 for ONE, probably plus shipping. So I HAVE to report - excellent response and Service, here in the UK . . . . NONE of that "Press one for a ten minute wait - press two to hear a list of ALL the products you're NOT interested in" CRAP . . The PSU has been a problem area for the Fusion - especially the 6HD - together with reports of hot running, often leading to failure . . . The SSD upgrade does alleviate this significantly by lower power consumption and less heat produced . . . So best advice is to put one by JUST IN CASE . . . . I mentioned the apparent shortage at InMusic USA - and he claimed that spares are common across their three Primary MAIN Offices - So I don't know WHAT is going on . . . parametric
