Hi Jesse, I have a new Fusion error code: (0x04000008) - "cannot find item" It happens when I attempt to save a song I have created (which is midi only). It also occurs when I try to save to a new location (Bank) on the HD. I've tried re-verifying ALL items in the Global menu, but no change . . . One thought: IIRC, the song was based on one of the ROM-BASED Groove-Mix items . . . Unfortunately, I didn't write down its name - but I've been through them all and can't seem to find it . . . ? Perhaps a reinstall of the OS (including ROM content) would fix this? Would you concur? I'm guessing that as this is a ROM content issue - it shouldn't mess with anything on the HD? Chris

I think I found the cause . . . A strange rogue program on one of the extra tracks I had added. Don't know quite how it happened as there is no manual addition of numericals involved - you select from a bank . . . .?! Anyway - it was obviously pointing NOWHERE - hence the error code . . . I traced the groove-mix I was using. I couldn't find it, because it was actually in Preset5 ! (Doh!) (called <Bale>) It has 5 tracks . . . . Ho Hum . . . . HOW many years down the line - and I've STILL got stuff to learn Chris

Alesis Fusion affectionately known as "The Beast" I don't know what to tell you, we have the error code 0x07010007 listed, but we don't know the cause or remedy.
You can try returning the Fusion to the default settings to see if that helps.
Good luck, keep us informed of your progress.
Take Care ... Jesse

Hi Jesse,
I've already tried the the default setting (by pressing play and record on power on. Right?) It doesn't work. I went through diagnostic mode (1+8). Everyting is ok. I've formatted the HD. Always the same error.... :-(

Alesis Fusion affectionately known as "The Beast" I am sorry the fix for this is a mystery to us for now, it could be a bad chip on one of the PCB's. Are both vengines out? Try configuring for mono output. The only other thing I can think of is to check your PSU for proper voltage outputs.
I wish Alesis was more forthcoming with tech info so we could better understand the workings of our awesome work station keyboards.
Take Care ... Jesse

Here's a new one, unfortunately:
0x01010009 Invalid voice firmware.
It started as intermittent and now only once every 10 or 20 boot attempts it does not appear. When it appears, it freezes the Beast (there's a OK box but it's irresponsive).
I've filed a support request to Alesis, but no answer yet.
---edit---2020-09-20--- Got an answer from a company named InMusic Music Europe, apparently they're the support organization for Alesis in Europe. The answer was no help at all, they just pointed me to the manual and OS binary file in the Alesis web site.
In the mean time I was able to run a diagnostic (pressing 1 and 8 while turning on the Fusion) and it gives a Fail regarding Processor Memory and reports 0MB available on VEngine and VEngine 2. So this is definitely a memory problem, probably a fault in some chip.
Right now it started to boot normally and the problem has temporarily disappeared. I'm trembling in fear that it will return and turns my Fusion (one of my most prized possessions) into the most expensive 40 Kg of junk in my house.

Hi josemdavid, This Error can have multiple sources. - The firmware is corrupted. Probable solution: Re-write the firmware. - The firmware flash ROM is defective. Solution: New flash ROM. - The pre-installed RAM is defective. Solution: New RAM chips. - A heat problem (the most probable source of the issue). Solution: Exchanging the HDD with an SSD or CF card, drilling holes in the chassis (at the relevant positions). For InMusic: They are not only the support org. for Europe, they are the owners of companies such as Alesis, Akai, Numark and so on. www.inmusicbrands.com/Cheers Ted

Alesis Fusion affectionately known as "The Beast"
A better solution to lower heat is to replace the old PSU with the new version of the PSU which replaced the small heat sink with a larger heat sink and modified circuitry.
When I tested the heat produced by the HDD and the SSD there was little difference measured on the PSU, the main significance of the SSD drive is it's not as susceptible to damage from being jostled around, which is good if you gig a lot with your Fusion.
The SSD does not load files any faster than a HDD.
The biggest gain in speed comes from increased E3 memory allowing you to load more sounds and retrieve them more quickly than any HDD or SSD.
