Those of you that installed an SSD IDE drive in your Fusion, 1. How about a report on what you like about it. 2. Is it working properly or have you had any problems? I have ordered a 64 Gb SATA II SSD drive that I will be testing by using an IDE to SATA adapter, if it works great, if not I will use it in an old computer and then buy an IDE/PATA SSD drive for my Fusion

I delayed a lot to install the SSD but finally last weekend I put hands on it.
Mine is the 64GB versión that has previously been mentioned (the PATA one that Parametric successfully tested on Fusion in its 128GB incarnation). I can confirm the 64GB does also work fine. Installation proved very simple, the guidelines written by Parametric are more tan enough. In my case I even didn't need the drill, because my 3,5 to 2,5 adapter cable already had the missing pin and this made it really simple. No need to think on how to connect the cable, just one only posible choice, lovely. It cost me less than 3 euros. Together with the SSD, it adds for a total of less than 60 euros. In exchange, no more annoying loud HD noise (though now the noise from the ventilation fans inside de Fusion becomes audible on itself -something that I may try to solve in the future with a low noise fan or a Peltier cell). Significantly reduced heat (now barely appreciable, may be that the fans can be completely removed, but I will not be the one who tries it). Excellent timing when reading/writing. Have made no measurements, but seems faster tan HD, particularly when I downloaded the volumes to the SSD (using the USB connection).
I have ocassionally (very few times) seen a blink of a 'HD Clip' logo in the upper line of the display, but nonetheless nothing wrong had happened and everything is working fine. I absolutely recommend the SSD.

I have been doing some experimenting with cooling down the PSU an will post the very good results later today 8)

Jesse: your cooling sounds cool. Already waiting for your posting of results. Regarding the 'HD Clip' it happened sometimes while testing the new libraries I installed, changing from one sound to another. Very briefly, to the extreme that I barely was able to read it and the 'HD Clip' is my own guessing about what it seemed to appear on screen. I will check further next weekend (I have no the H8 with me now).

Sorry for such a delay. Here you can see the screen on my Fusion 8SSD, displaying the 'Clip' message I was talking about. Just for you all to know about it.
Maybe it is a M Clip (memory) and not a HD Clip as I erroneusly mentioned before. Anyhow, it rarely appears, doesn't hold (just shows briefly) and I can not perceive any fault on function or sound. Seems to me it is just some warning but without further consequences. I have only appreciated it after installing the SSD (but certainly I didn't spend too much time with the HD before swapping it for the SSD). I haven't seen that 'CLIP' mentioned in the manual.

... And one more photo. This shows how I managed to install the SSD (2,5') without a need for a bay size adapter (I just needed the cable from the old and large 40 pin IDE to the newer smaller one on the 2,5 SSD). Esentially reversing the facing of the two metal pieces holding the disk was enough. It is nice when things go as simple as this! (hope the schema makes it clear)

Thanks for the information, I think I have seen something on this topic before, I will research it

Hi Andy,
Both those look to be fine. The KingSpec looks the same as mine, only 64Gb. The IMPORTANT aspect is the PATA . . . .
I like the look of the adaptor/holder. Its metal which I prefer . . . Mine was plastic.
Best Regards

If I left my PATA SSD in the Fusion I would have used Velcro to secure it.

Indeed that IS a tidy solution Jesse, my only reservation is that is doesn't take MUCH temperature to turn the adhesive on the velcro - to OOZE and the SSDs don't run THAT cold . . IME para
