Hi BP . . . .
Shortly AFTER the new FC was released, I DID make CS aware of shortcomings in the program - particularly the AutoSample feature I was particularly interested in.
I intially reported this in the SamplerZone Forum, but, getting no response, I emailed Garth, and it was at this stage, the point was made about the forum being "Boring", and it was stated that the best way to proceed was by email to techsupport@, or indeed to fill out a bug report.
I complied - and in all fairness, Garth asked me to upload my volume folder to their server . . .
9Gb later, I got a discourse on what content could be removed (not being relevant to the operation of FC).
I slimmed it down as requested and re-uploaded.
I was never made aware of the findings.
Checking the bug report log told me that the problem was being looked at . . . .
In the end, I got tired of checking back. There seems to be NO pro-active effort to keep the user "in the loop" so to speak.
All of which is a shame.
As a Fusion user, I was delighted to find that CS believed in the Fusion to the extent that they fielded a utility for it that promised much.
Sadly, these days, what is promised in the advertising rhetoric is often not realised in the final product. (or at least - not very well) IMO
CS should take a LONG look at the CUCKOS (Reaper) forum.
The Forum is not only attended by staff actively engaged in updating the program, but also a great number if enthusiastic users who actually USE the program.
The result is that work-arounds and how-to's are rapidly presented to the community - So, if you HAVE a problem, there is somewhere to go to find an answer.
If the problem is NEW - then a quick "ask" will soon garner a response that will, in all likelyhood take you forwards.
This also has a knock-on effect - as other companies engage with the product - and "feed the need" as in Kenny Gioia's excellent Videos on how to use Reaper.
Bug reporting is good (and essential) as far as it goes, but IMO, these problem SHOULD be discussed IN THE FORUM - so new users are AWARE of them, and don't WASTE TIME thinking the problem is NEW . . .
CS should seriously rethink this - and bring SampleZone ALIVE - and make it the "place to go" for what is NEW . . . .
I'm sure there are many users out there with serious skills in this area - who could WELL discover work-arounds - to make FC what it was supposed to be.
Sure, times are hard - with every last penny being chased.
Irresponsible accounting can probably be blamed for converting the "working-slack" in the system (inadvisedly) into profit.
This leaves little room to manoeuvre. IMO, boardroom intervention is needed to redistribute resources to address this.
It sure is a mess as it is. The amount of SPAM alone, shows that no-one cares.
