Hello Fusion owners!
I bought an 88HD yesterday via Reverb.com, it was a local pickup. The seller was super nice (and a synth head, which is always a plus), and admitted to barely having used the keyboard, which he had purchased from the original owner. I played the thing in his studio and everything seemed to be working fine, and this is on the original OS (1.0). I knew that this was the case when I bought it, and plan on updating it today when I get a Cf card.
I got it home and everything was okay until the 3rd time I turned it on. Some error messages randomly appeared (mostly numbers and characters, don't think there were actual words other than "error"). The only thing that seemed to stop working was the selector wheel, and the sounds took longer to load. I contacted the seller as well as Reverb to see about refunds and they were both very accommodating. I have no fear that I can return this keyboard if I need to.
That being said, I really love the thing and it is perfect for my needs feature-wise. So I am wondering, once I update the OS, how confident I should feel? Do people generally still experience bugs and other issues with the latest firmware?
Since I have the ability to get a full refund after updating the OS, I figured why not ask other owners what their experiences are. Reading through forums, I hear a lot of praise and a lot of negativity in equal measure.
Thank you -David

Hi auditor - and welcome to the Forums . . . .
If your Fusion has OS 1.0 then it is an early one . . . It has a 40Gb Drive in all likelyhood - again no problem. They upped it to an 80Gb in later models.
If it boots up, I would suggest connecting by usb to your PC or Mac. A drive called Fusion_HD will appear on your desktop.
Open it, and copy the <Volume> folder to your desktop. This effectively backs up the entire contents of the Fusion to your Computer.
Did the seller mention if there were any additional Banks loaded OTHER THAN the Factory Set? HollowSun Freebees for instance?
No matter. You now have backed up all you have . .
Next move I would suggest is to reformat the HD USING THE FUSION'S Utility (in the <Global> menus IIRC), and then load up OS 1.24
(the latest and LAST) using the CF card.
NB - The Fusion can only handle up to 4GB cards . . . . .
Instruction are around in the Forum . . .
You can then Copy the <Volume> folder back to the ROOT of the Fusion_HD . .
Just drop it there, and <OK> the prompts . . .
VERIFY ALL in the Global Menu - and restart the Fusion.
Normality SHOULD be restored.
You should be in for an interesting time . . . The Fusion is a GREAT and massively underrated Board - I have a 6HD and an 8HD . . .

That's great information. I never knew you could just copy over the entire contents like that.
I need to come here more often.
