I'm glad to see that this new board is up and running, because I'm going to attempt my first Fusion OS upgrade, (hopefully tomorrow.) - and it's good to know that I'll have someone to hold my hand, figuratively speaking if I run into anything unexpected. Still *very* new to this amazing instrument. Obviously. LS

I understand your fear - the 1.24 upgrade was the first one I had to do (it came with 1.22 and I didn't feel the need for 1.23), so I was slightly tremulous about it... but in the event, it worked out just fine. Probably takes ten minutes, all told, and four phases (verifying the image, erasing the ROM, writing the image to the ROM, and checking it worked), and for me it went without a hitch. The only time I really started worrying was when my cats came and investigated the mains lead, so you may want to ensure you don't have any "little helpers"

My only advice would be to back up the Volume folder from the Fusion HD to your PC/Mac before doing anything else, just in case

Well - I'm lining up printouts and materials, preparatory to... ulp...doing the OS upgrade....(probably tomorrow, but I'm getting all the pieces in place and psyching myself up a bit.) However - as I prepare to schlep the OS file over to a CF card, there is one major puzzling aspect in the instructions: no mention of unzipping the OS file! Can this really be what the Fusion expects...a zip file?? ....and thanks for the tip about removing all feline assistants from the premises during critical operations. onward...with some trepidation... Good point - yes, you do need to unzip it! Then take the .bin file and pop it onto the CF (I used a blank one, but I don't know whether that's essential).
Good luck!
