i dont understand what everybody has to have a mpc for. ive had a 2000 and 4000 and they never made my music any better or easier to make. just the tap tempo on the high hats and quantizing, i can do on the fusion anyway. im not a sample guy unless its drum kits and i think the fusion is a cross between a computer/keyboard/mpc and im so glad theres a site for this keyboard. god bless its creators and hollow sun for lettin the beast out its cage

Welcome to The club. i dont understand what everybody has to have a mpc for. On this forum, largely because Fusion doesn't do pattern sequencing and the MPC is arguably the best option in a hardware box. Others choose it for all sorts of reasons. In hip-hop circles, I believe it's the law to possess an MPC - failure to do so resulting in a drive-by shooting! I have one coz I think they're fab! Steve

Killer! I like the 3 teir stand with the table on the bottom teir. Is that a homemade job, or can you buy them like that?

Steve lol i do alot of "beat battles" (take that for what it's worth lol)and perform with a bunch of hip hop groups and i gotta tell u there is an odd view toward the mpc. we've even had battles billed as "boxes vs. boards" and while i was a rep for the mpc "boxes" side... it's just another tool. a very good one but just another tool. just like an asr-x or mp-7 (love the mp-7 sequencer hate the asr's lol) i would never part with mine just cause it's work flow clicks with me. to each his own. btw couldn't get your pics to load maybe later.

Well, the new addition to my studio prompted a refit, and it made me get rid of some stuff I wasn't making use of, so now everything connects without having to stretch cables in awkward directions.... And the new bit of kit ? Here ya go.... Akai MPK49This is now the controller of choice and the Fusion is now on the stands. Gives me more deskspace and looks a lot neater For my initial review and thoughts on the MPK, see my blog post HEREAnd to answer a few questions... i dont understand what everybody has to have a mpc for. ive had a 2000 and 4000 and they never made my music any better or easier to make. just the tap tempo on the high hats and quantizing, i can do on the fusion anyway. im not a sample guy unless its drum kits and i think the fusion is a cross between a computer/keyboard/mpc and im so glad theres a site for this keyboard. god bless its creators and hollow sun for lettin the beast out its cage I don't have to have an MPC (I have two) but they were required for various projects, and let's face it, if we all liked and used the same gear, it'd be pretty boring. Like Steve, I have one (or two) coz they're fab, although I yield to Steve's bigger one Killer! I like the 3 teir stand with the table on the bottom teir. Is that a homemade job, or can you buy them like that? Homemade ! Two old shelves sat on the bottom tier so I can support the RM1x and MPC1000

And your lovely little Prophecy is still there I see Mine still gets a right old caning when I feel in the mood to improvise. I just love that ribbon/control wheel arrangement.

The Prophecy will never leave my side A more powerful and expressive instrument I have yet to find. Can't beat the expressiveness of it, IMHO. And to think, I dismissed it when it first came out in '96 as an overpriced fad !! There was I asking how on earth anyone could justify £1200 for a 37 note monophonic keyboard !! LOL When I played one, I soon shut my mouth

nice pics... that kit looks fun. Sadly, the drum kit has been relegated to the garage, mainly because the kids bedroom is next door and therefore I can't play it in the evening as the pedals make too much noise on the upstairs floor. Also, when the dreaded Mother In Law comes to stay, we put the Z-Bed up in here and the drums just get in the way. So, they've been moved downstairs into the icy cold (especially at this time of year) garage where I can go and practice in quiet without disturbing anyone Kids, In Laws and Music Making Do Not Mix !!
