Below is a link to an image of my fairly low end and affordable Hobby studio. I custom built the room for the studio in my basement, and vacated a bedroom, because my eldest daughter needed her own room. A Fusion 6HD is the centerpiece of my digital studio, fully loaded and up to date. It's lead me to a lot of knowledge in musical synthesis, especially through all of the free and low cost tutorials, sounds, as well as the information rich forums. It absolutely amazes me the number of people that have supported this product and offer their assistance and knowledge freely. I've had the pleasure of working with computers and microprocessor electronics for almost 30 years, and the fusion just strikes me as a computer system with a customised interface, so we've been getting along just as I would expect. Alesis support has been excellent to deal with and I am happy to be one of the early adopters of the Fusion (since November of 2005). I do wish for the 24 bit sampling and SATA I/F though. the Guitar portion of my studio is another story for other forums. livetiger.com/studio-image-1.htmLater, Livetiger

Below is a link to an image of my fairly low end and affordable Hobby studio. A suggestion ... reduce the resolution. It took ages to download here (broadband). Lo-rez is fine for net pics. I am not saying this to be a smart arse but to save you bandwidth. Here's the same thing at a lower rez: 140kb compared with your 3.6MB!!!!! I do wish for the 24 bit sampling and SATA I/F though. Frankly speaking, 24-bit sampling is largely all my arse and serves no appreciable sonic benefits over 16-bit. 24-bit *recordings* of a performance (i.e. of a band or orchestra on full tilt) can benefit from the added dynamic range but for single hit *samples* there is little - if anything - to be gained ... all you'll probably notice is extra storage/memory requirements and slower load/save times!!! As for SATA ..... Could be nice I suppose but with USB connectivity (and Flash card support), *I* have no need for it. I can get external sounds in via USB or Flash card and I can backup my disk over USB. For mastering tunes, I can simply record the digi outs of my Fusion to my Mac and use any number of serious mastering tools and wave editors (many free - especially on PC) and standard tools for making a CD and/or MP3. So... nice as it might be to have these features (if only for 'completeness'), I don't miss them ... and I doubt I ever will. And I shan't lose any sleep if these are never implemented! Just my take on it though. And yes - that is an impressive skull connection you have there Steve

Ye gods, I wondered why it was taking a while! I appreciate you probably just pulled it straight off your camera and stuck it on your website, but all the same... ow! (I missed the skulls completely... I guess I've been hanging around goths too long.)

I apologize for the image size, I've just now reduced it to a fraction of the size it was, I wasn't paying attention after I ran it through an image retouching app that actually tripled the resolution.
I agree that the 24 bit sampling is over the top most of the time, but it seems that 16 bit is more susceptible to resolution related artifacts like pops and clicks. My studio used to consist of all 16 bit gear, back in the day. Maybe it was the gear and not the resolution, but I haven't experienced the same issues with 24 bit. But then again I'm just a hobbyist without the extensive knowledge that you HollowSun folks have.
As for the SATA I/F, I as well am not losing sleep over this one, but at the same time I would enjoy having the option to burn a CD right off of the Fusion, especially if I took the Fusion on the road.
Thanks for the kind feedback. LT
