its true. clubowners have refused the band entrance with these things. once had a guy from an opening band jump on stage, pull of his gym shorts and play the sawblades in the buff. that was a good gig. at one point there was a beagle walking on the bar and i hit a biker with an xp10... anyhow. sadly enough, we had to file 86 the huge gas tank (not shown). it took 4 people to move it, and it just didnt fit anywhere. used to have a guy that tap danced with metal cleats on top. (with a fedora on, of course, otherwise it would just look ridiculous) in the process of sampling all this stuff since i dont play out that much anymore. the slow descent into being surrounded by samplers and sundry amounts of sequencers and midi cables continues...

I am pretty sure that I would not want to be anywhere near those saw blades with my cock hanging out. Welcome to the Club! Aren't you a regular at VSE?

Wow . . . amazing kit! And strangely a lot like this : www.toontrack.com/ezx.asp#twistedI am hoping to get hold of this soon, but your samples sound very interesting as well . . . ah, tom waits style. love rain dogs, easily his best. to be honest, the keg and the propane tanks have the most desirable timbre, as does an old plow disk that showed up at one point. huge saw blades (like the ones used for milling) are superb sounding, but even old rusted ones cost as much as cymbals and are pretty hard to find. my next attempt is going to be recording them with a hydrophone placed in an aquairum underneath them. i should share some samples here later, have to dig up a place to share them from. I am pretty sure that I would not want to be anywhere near those saw blades with my cock hanging out. Welcome to the Club! Aren't you a regular at VSE? reason? rational thought? they have no place in rock music. and yes, i am a mod at vse (the only one working right now) which seems to be kaput at the moment. (kind of grateful) But then, if something goes wrong the first time, the object of fear is removed thenceforth... unless it grows back...

I'm a complete novice with regards to Tom Waits, but I have wanted to get some of his albums for a while. All I know is the song Heart Attack And Vine (which I love), and his appearance in Bram Stoker's Dracula!
I'm not a drummer myself, but I have an interest in sound design and creative sampling (but not sound programming) and I am hoping to get the Zoom H4 Handy Recorder soon, then go out and about doing some interesting field recordings etc. I live in a small fishing village and I know there are plenty of great things that could be banged (when nobody is about of course) and sampled down by the harbour!
As for the saw blades and certain genitalia, wasn't the lead-singer of awful 80s rock band WASP famous for wearing a saw blade codpiece?!
;D ;D ;D

for waits best moments, i would look at rain dogs and mule variations. very diverse catalog, but those two nicely bookend my favorite period (the wino junkyard jazz).
the new little zoom things looks nice. i am still using some salvaged horrible tape hissing dictation device for my on the go whatnot.
a little advice - make a windscreen out of some pantyhose and a quilting hoop. and carry a sheet metal punch with you at all times. makes a decent self defense weapon as well.

I am pretty sure that I would not want to be anywhere near those saw blades with my cock hanging out. I rarely do so on stage, but nonetheless I take this as a warning to check only fluffy things are around on the occasion!
