I am a new visitor to this site and I am planning on decreasing the size of my 8+ module live rig. In the "bang-for-the-buck" category, the Fusion seems to be one of the best. However, I am curious if any of you fabulous users here use the sample or FM sections of the Fusion to get some realistic organ sounds for live work? I have faith that the FM, analog, and modeling section to a lesser degree can cover most caveats pretty well, yet a lot of my material calls for good organ sounds. Also, I'm sure much has been said about it in different places on this site, but how does this unit stack up in live work pertaining to speed of sound switching, using the arps, etc. Any advice would be well appreciated. I am eventually going to go to just one keyboard unit or two depending on what I can get away with. Thanks again for the info.
Cheers, ClayMan

Hello, In live condition, Fusions are very versatile due to the MIX mode. You can stack several layers on the whole keyboard or just on some zones and switch from one to the others via the modulation wheel. Pretty cool. I made an example here : www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6GmcxXCnOAThe organ sounds are ok, not fantastic, but you have every kind of organ tastes in the internal and Hollow Sun banks. Leslie effetcs are good too. I prefer my Korg CX-3 for realistic organ sounds, but on stage my Fusion will be good enough to avoid taking one more 30 pounds keyborad. If you work with modulation layers, splits and the ability to go through mixes with a footswitch, I think that the 8HD can replace many modules. It just lacks some controllers like d-beam and ribbons, and a vocoder to be a perfect all-in-one solution. Depending of the sounds you use in your mixes, it can need up to six seconds to load a mix, but if you have the 192MB RAM version, you can preload several mixes and then have an instant switching. With VA, modelling and FM sounds, loading is direct. When I started my new band, I planned to use all of my six keyboards on stage, but thanks to the Fusion's mix mode, I will only use three without any limitation : a PC1x for 88 keys, pianos and strings sounds, a V-Synth GT for leads, some pads and sampled drum loops, and the Fusion 6HD for all other sounds (about 70% of the sounds I need). If I had a 8HD, I could have used only this one and the GT.
