All,
Just joined this forum. I have a Fusion 6HD which I bought from new when it was released. Recently, it started to occasionaly reboots itself while I play... Last week, it just kept rebooting at my rehearsal to the point where I just had to switch it off completely... :-( It doesn't show any error messages or anything, plenty of space on HD. Any ideas? I also have some screen problems which i'll post in seperate thread.
Thanks
Laurent

Welcome to The Club.
Maybe loose connections inside. There are a few ribbon cables, etc., inside which may have come loose if you're moving the thing around a bit.
Worth a look perhaps.
Cheers,
Steve

Another possibility may be a faulty power supply.
Please let us know what the problem is once you have corrected it so others will know what to look for if they have the same problem.
Take Care ... Jesse

Thanks guys. Interesting that someone mentioned that moving the board made a difference... I mentioned I have a screen problem as well and what happens is that the back light will go off but not all the time, but twisting the board on the right (near power supply...) it brings it back up... I assumed it was a screen problem but maybe its all related to the power supply or loose connection/faulty ribbon cable... I'll have a look. Thanks... ps: Its really annoying as i have a few gigs lined up but don't want to take the chance...

Well, i took it apart a couple of times... very frustrating indeed. It looks like a bad contact/connection somewhere... The reason I believe that is that when i twist the casing (grabbing it from each side and twisting the whole casing a little bit) the back light comes back (or disappear if it was on) however I really can't see where the problem lies... Would it do that if it was the PC boards? I tried running it with the top open and moving cables around inside but with no success... Any ideas of what else I could try?

Maybe you should send an email to Justin Baro at Alesis headquarter, he has always been helpful in the past and knows a lot about the Fusion. The reboot is probably due to a faulty power supply but the screen going off and on when moving the Fusion seems like a loose connection.

Yes could try that. Do you have his email address? I have contacted Alesis UK already but all they have suggested is a system reset.. :-(

Success!!! I have solved some problems... The backlight was a component which was not soldered properly... I found it by opening the board, and moving parts as i suspected a bad contact somewhere (to be done with extra care when the unit is powered!). Anyways, it was a component on one of the 2 little boards just below the screen, the ones that people seem to change quite often. I didn't have to in my case. By pushing slightly on one of the components (black round thing) the backlight was coming back. So I removed the board and re-soldered that component and Voila! Another issue of one of the outputs slightly lower than the other was solved by simply cleaning it with Contact cleaner, spray some on a jack and put it in, twist, remove clean and repeat operation a few times...
Now, the remaining problem is the reboot... :-( Haven't check yet if it still does it since I repaired the screen. Otherwise, might try replacing the power supply altogether... To be continued... ;-)
