Thanks Paul I will give it a try. Actually it unpacked all four files and stitched them together when I unpacked the first one, no need to highlight all four. I should have compared file sizes the first time.

Hi Jesse ... how many programs are there in total? I downloaded the files last night on my main computer (iMac OSX) and was only able to open the first file (after downloading Stuffit Expander 2010) and unable to open the other three files (each 200mb). I've ended up with a volume file with mix, samples, programs, multisamples folders and the mix folder is empty (not unusual) and the programs folder has 45 programs in it (from memory, 12 Floots thro' to Zap Synth). Have I managed to open the files correctly and is 45 the correct number of programs? I thought I'd just check before loading up on the Fusion.
Best regards ... Rainbow:)

Hello, I just purchased a Fusion 8HD. I've downloaded and 7zipped the file, connected the Fusion to my XP laptop (with a usb printer type cable) and it shows up as "removable disc (G)" with nothing on it.
I look at properties and it shows 2 alesis fusion hard drives? HelP! I'm usually pretty good at this stuff but i'm stumped this time.

I look at properties and it shows 2 alesis fusion hard drives? HelP! I'm usually pretty good at this stuff but i'm stumped this time. The reason it is showing two drives is because the Fusion has a CF card reader (which on your PC, is drive G, with no card inserted) and a hard drive (drive H, which has all your sound data on it). The new sound data needs to be copied onto drive H (the hard drive). Warning:-Back up your Fusion before messing about with your Fusion's hard drive, so if anything goes wrong, you can format the Fusion drive and transfer the original data back. If you look through previous posts, you will find no end of users that have corrupted their Fusion's file structure by incorrect file transfer and filling the hard drive with crap and deleting it as they would in Windows! There are hundreds of new sounds on your Fusion and I would have a look at these before installing any new programs. Save a copy of joeri's sound set on your PC for future use. Paul

Paul Thank you for the explanation. I Checked the HD and there was no operating system on it. It was [unformatted]. I guess the person I bought it from deleted everything, or put a new 40GB HD in it. So I had to format it and it now shows up on my laptop. yay. I installed the QSR stuff and verified the folders, but I'm getting a lot of errors when I try to load some of them. VM not responding etc. This keyboard has the old OP system. Before I do anything else should I update to 1.24? If the previous owner messed with it too much i'd like to start with a fresh setup. That should do the trick, I think 2 GB is the largest that will work, that is what I use and it works just fine.

It might be worth pointing out that many Fusion owners never have any need to use the CF drive, so don't feel that you absolutely have to purchase a CF. It's not an essential purchase unless you have specific plans for how you're going to use it.
