I sent the following to Alesis Tech Support, Alesis Tech Support 67.192.162.144/contactMost likely nothing will happen, I am only one person, but if most of us who own the Alesis Fusion contact Tech Support with the same or similar request maybe we will get the support from Alesis that we deserve. One thing is for sure if we do not try we definitely will not receive any support, so take a few minutes and contact Alesis Tech Support! Below is my message to Alessis Tech Support The Akai MPC 5000 uses a lot of the Alesis Fusion's hardware and has access to a CD recorder which was part of the Fusions proposed functions. The Fusion's external SATA port will recognize a SATA drive connected to it, but will not let you format it and use it. Please enable this function with a Firmware update.
A third party has produced working 128MB memory expansion modules for the Alesis Fusion Akai MPC5000. A 256MB memory expansion module was developed also, but the Fusion would only recognize 128MB of the 256 MB module. Sector 101 is the developer of these memory modules and can be contacted here; Sector 101 sector101.co.uk/exm-e3.html Please update the Fusion's firmware to address the full 256MB of these memory expansion modules.
A complete listing of the Fusion's MIDI features would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your continued support of an Awesome Work Station

By the way I did get a reply back from Alesis, which is a good sign.
"Hello, Thank you for contacting us with your new product suggestion! Your feedback is important to us. I've logged your comments and suggestions into our feature request system. Such requests get compiled, and are delivered weekly in a report to Product managers, and members of our development team, ensuring that they receive the widest audience possible.
We certainly appreciate it when someone goes out of their way to share their ideas. Thank you again for your feedback!"
They are listening and we as a group need to let them know there are thousands of us that want new features and support for our Fusion Work Stations. So contact Alesis Support, Let's see if we can get something accomplished!

I just sent a reply back to Alesis Tech Support's reply "You might also like to know that we have found a replacement LCD display with LED back light for only $20 which eliminates the CCFL back light and also eliminates the need for the Inverter & Dimmer PCB's. From MPJA MPJA Replacement LCD Display with LED Back Light We have successfully installed PATA/IDE SSD drives up to 128 GB which make the Fusion more dependable for gigging and also helps to lower the temperature in the Fusion and draw less power from the PSU Also Chicken Systems has recently released Fusion Creator new improved sound editing software for the Alesis Fusion Chicken Systems Fusion CreatorCheck us out at the the FusionZone & Fusion Club FusionZone FusionZoneFusion Club Fusion ClubSincerely, Jesse M Smith

(copied from the FusionZone - to follow the thread in here . . . )
Hi Jesse -
That is very Pro-Active of you to approach Alesis on this subject . .
I have to confess to being gob-smacked by their response which seems to be most "engaging" . . .
The "Tone" of the response is somewhat surprising, given that I/We all thought that with the Fusion being declared "Legacy" all that time ago - such enquiries would be met with "sorry - its a legacy product and is discontinued".
I DO of course hope their response is genuine (in reference to the Fusion) and not simply someone who has never heard of the Fusion, just clicking on a link that sends out a stock response . . .
It would of course be GREAT even to have the missing features made accessible.
A jump to SATA drives would be wonderful but I guess would require a hardware/pcb mod in addition to OS rehashing - so that is probably out of the window.
One of my "students" from my Uni days, is now fairly senior at NI - and he mentioned to me that he knew (or at least met) Taiho Yamada - who I think was pivotal in the writing of Fusion's OS, and almost certainly had a hand in the ROM content. He IS apparently a sound designer primarily and is now living in LA and is "freelancing for various companies".
What is so sad about the Fusion is that even back at release - it was Giant Killer of a board.
I think I mentioned that back in the Summer, I went with Saul (admin at the YamahaForumsUk) to meet with the Assistant Product Manager of Yamaha Japan, at Yamaha's research facility here in the UK. In a meeting that lasted ~2 hours we were asked about desirable features for Yamaha's forthcoming new board.
The result has just been announced in the new MONTAGE keyboard. It sports two engines (AWM2 and Fm-x)
Fm-x is an 8-operator FM engine (DX7 was 6-op)
The Fusion has Four Engines.
I think only the Korg Kronos is superior in this respect - with Seven engines . . .
Even if the Fusion largely stayed still - but was equipped with SATA + the 256Mb E3s, surely it would sell as a Fusion2?
So MUCH about the Fusion was so RIGHT it really is such a shame.
I wouldn't mind betting that if a new OS was developed, that at least fixed the missing features, - MANY users would be prepared to pay something for it?
There HAS to be some credibility surely, with ongoing support from Klaus, Joeri and ChickenSys?
Perhaps I should precis this lot and send it to Alesis?
Best Regards
Chris

By all means Chris do it, doing nothing gains nothing, but by trying we may gain something. I don't like giving up, I find it a challenge to keep trying and the Fusion to me is worth the effort Jesse

Just re-iterating from the ZONE . . . . Jesse - I have sent a message to Alesis using the link you posted . . . I sent it to the <Support and Service> option, which seemed like the right one . . . . It's rather long, so I attached the .rtf here instead of pasting: Letter to Alesis Feb2016.rtf (4.74 KB) I wonder if it will get a "hearing"? Can't say we didn't try klaus - we are, and always will be grateful for your continued interest in the Fusion parametric

I too have received a response (of sorts) from Alesis, Well - InMusic, actually. The content does NOT fill me with great hope, and I remind you of the comment I made in my earlier post:
Their reply is :
What the hell is MixMeister Fusion Software? I NEVER mentioned it.
I guess "Fusion" is being used as an adjective (describing a style of Music) rather than as a Noun (name of a Workstation).
So I can only conclude that my fears were well-founded, so I'm NOT holding my breath . . . .

Sent to Inmusicbrands.com; Bill, if Inmusic is not able to help us with the Alesis Fusion 6HD & 8HD OS upgrade from the existing 1.24 version to Version 2.0 mentioned to us at the NAMM 2005 showing, would Inmusic consider releasing the Alesis Fusion 6HD & 8HD OS Source Code so that we could develop it for the Fusion Work Station Keyboards. We have talented people who are interested in achieving the full potential of these wonderful keyboards. Perhaps we could work together toward this goal and you could release the OS upgrade to all the Fusion 6HD & 8HD owners, this would be good Public Relations for your company and improve customer faith in and support for your products. Sincerely, Jesse M Smith Request for Alesis Fusion 6HD 8HD OS Updat....pdf (198.86 KB) I guess I am just an extreme optimist

I just sent a letter to Alesis General Inquiries quoting some of your letters, and adding some stuff of my own. I should have pasted the somewhat long letter here, but screwed it up. Some of it is here: I am the musical director/keyboardist for Chubby Checker and the Wildcats. I'm an Alesis fan. My main keyboard is Alesis Fusion. I'm requesting that you release the source code so that Jessie Smith and some talented programmers can create Fusion OS2.0. Thank you so much. I hope to hear from you soon. And I hope to be able to use your products in front of the thousands of people that I play for around the world. Thanks for your consideration.
Maybe something will happen.
