Hello,
I have not found a good answer on either forum to this question:
If I use the Fusion Sort program to drastically reduce the number of banks I have on my fusion, will the "mixes" i have made using those sounds all have reference errors and missing sounds?
In other words, say I have a mix with three splits - containing programs from "My Bank" and HS 01 and HS 02, then, using Fusion Sort I combine the HS 01 and 02 along with all the other HS sounds - into a new bank called "HS ALL" - does that break my mix?
I have not done this yet, I have a backup, but would really like to hear from the users first.
Thanks!

Before you do anything: Make backups of your existing Program and Mix banks. Not only on your computer, burn an additional CD.
Mix are sensitive for Program locations and you must consider that not the Program name is saved in a Mix but the Program number.
The easiest way of saving your precious time is to view and select all Mix you want to collect in one bank. Write everything down, so you have a written concept. This helps to keep your brain clean. Then view their Program location source data and write it down too. Then move the concerned Programs to the target Program collection bank and print it out. Use this data sheet to re-build your Mix collection and save them always as new Mix.
Do this in one go, to keep the overview. A rainy sunday is perfect for this venture and this means that you are lucky if you live somewhere where it rains more often than in the californian desert. You can do this with Fusionsort or manually directly with the Fusion, depends on your favorite work style.
Cheers
Klaus

Thanks for the answer! I live in Maine, USA and we have plenty of rainy days.
I have not tried the Fusion Sort program yet, because I use a Mac and installed "FS" with Windows XP running in Parallels. If I read your post correctly, can I re-organize mixes as well as programs with Fusion Sort? Just curious.
Thanks!

I use a Mac and installed "FS" with Windows XP running in Parallels. Hmmmm. I'm not sure that Windows in Parallels would give you proper access to the USB. I seem to recall having problems with that in the past. Dunno if that's an issue for you though in this situation.

I'll report back after I give it a try! Seems like I should be able to tell parallels that Windows gets the USB connection. I've had to do that for printers and other gadgets before. Well - first experiments with the FusionSort program are less than exciting. To avoid headaches, i moved about 20 soundfont-converted programs (that I do not use) into one collected folder using FusionSort. I re-verified the fusion, went to the first program, and it did not know where the multisample was for the program, so I told it and saved. Well that's a pain in the neck - all the programs seem to need this redirection to the multisamples -AND some of the samples are not found from the multisamples.
PAIN IN THE NECK.
So - I guess I'll not be using the program if it does not make the necessary changes for samples and multisamples at the same time. What exactly is the use of this program? I could simply move things around in a Finder window on my Mac with results as good, couldn't I? What am i missing here?
Incidentally - I connected parallels fine (win xp) but had to update to 3.0 build 5XXX or something. I simply told parallels to give USB to the virtual machine by default.

Why are there two windows in fusion sort. They seem to be the same thing. They say Bank 1 and Bank 2.
