I think the volume pot is a good old analogue level control - I have a noisy one now.
Why not deal directly with Alesis UK? I'm sure they'd be accommodating - you can ask!

Already sorted Steve.....interesting that you've also got one. It don't sound like the pot's crackling to me.....they're so silky smooth there's no difference in physical feel......anyhow it should be returned by the end of the week.
Cheers Al

Some microscopic crap on the pot's track won't be 'felt' when turning the thing but it's enough to cause a crackle as the pot is moved. Really old pots will get stiffer (notice how I avoid the stiff knob joke there!) but that's mostly corrosion.
Glad you're sorted.
Anyone in the UK having a problem with their Fusion (or any Alesis product) should always pick up the phone to Alesis HQ - I have found them to be all extremely helpful and friendly. They may not be able to answer EVERY question you throw at them but they'll do what they can to help ... or pass you on to someone who can.

I have the same problem with my volume knob but it always clears up when after I turn it back and forth about ten or so times. I barely use the volume knob anyway unless I'm using my headphones. I guess this a common problem.

Jesse;
What is the "LCD Flicker Mod" ?
And in your dealings, did you find out about any other cool "mods" that can be obtained? (in addition to the clamping diodes)

Jesse; What is the "LCD Flicker Mod" ? And in your dealings, did you find out about any other cool "mods" that can be obtained? (in addition to the clamping diodes) kev I don't know exactly what was done, the information is only released to licensed, certified Alesis repair tech's. I posted all the info I had, unfortuately I could not get the info on the repair/mod bulletins.

I've got a similar problem. After I had my Fusion a couple of months, I noticed that if I moved the volume control while a note was sounding, the output would crackle on the right channel, (similar sound to a dirty pot), but if I moved the volume knob without any notes sounding, there was no crackling. After another week or so, it got a lot worse - I started getting distortion on the right channel most of the time. I have noticed that it is worse with bass notes and also the more notes I play, the worse it gets. I am sending it back for repair under warranty on Friday (and having the memory upgraded at the same time), and I don't know how I'm going to occupy my time while it's away! Paul Paul, what repair work was done on your Fusion, do you know? Jesse

Paul, what repair work was done on your Fusion, do you know? Jesse Jesse, I can't remember exactly - 5 years at our age might just as well be a lifetime! I can recall that two boards were replaced and I assume one of them was the board with the volume pot on it. As for the other replacement, I haven't got a clue! I only wish my PSU had gone faulty at the same time. Paul
