Hey don't forget the Miracle Keyboard by Software Tool Works (mid 90's), it's a 49 key synth, most of the sounds aren't that great, but some are pretty good. It has 128 banks with midi in & out and a sustain pedal. ;D

I was SO close to buying a D-50 back in the day, but didn't have a sequencer so I opted not to get it. It's 100% true that workstations like the Korg M1 and Ensoniq SQ-1+ (of which I'm a proud owner of) absolutely crushed the D-50 because of advanced features like internal sequencers and so on. Put it this way: During that time it was too easy to find a D as all they did was sit on shelves and collect dust while Korg's and Ensoniq's were flying out the door. (You can still find them on eBay for almost next to nothing.)

What I find utterly amazing is that the Korg Prophecy was only, what they call, a "chartgrazer" !!! It was such a groundbreaking and influential synth and it didn't even make the top 20 ! I had it down for a top 5 spot at least ! So, what do we think is gonna make up the top 5 ? I'd say the Minimoog will be number one. Korg M1 will be there somewhere, as will the DX7. No matter what gets in, there will be some tragic and unbelieveable ommisions !

Tough to say what will make the top 5. The Moog, M1 and DX7 should be there. A Fairlight will probably grace its presence there as well. I'd be happy to see Ensoniq or Kurzweil make the list. Neither of them have appeared yet. Aaaaand obviously it would be cool if the Fusion made the list. It should be there. Hey, I can be biased. This is a Fusion forum.

Well, they've hinted that the M1 is at either 3, 4 or 5. The Minimoog will be number 1, I suspect, and the DX7 number 2; and the Emulator II somewhere else - and possibly the Microwave, if it was offered as a choice. And the OSCar too, if there's any justice in the world.
On the other hand - the JV1080 at number 8...? I mean, I'm sure it was nice and all, but the 8th something-est synth of all time...?

This was all based on online voting at Sonicstate. So it would tend to favor the biggest selling synths of all time right? I mean you are more likely to think something was a fantastic if you bought one. Maybe?

Yes, but even then - a Roland JV1080, as opposed to the 1010 or 2080, or one of the XVs, or (heaven forfend) a Sound Canvas...? Maybe it's a case of the bland leading the bland...? *ducks & runs*

...or maybe not...? Certainly appears to be a good sound blender, particularly with two additive waveforms going at once.

One patch from my myriad of facsimile sheets (circa.1973-1979) I miss my ARP ODYSSEY from back in the day. I can't believe it made #2. When I toured in 1979, I used both the Odyssey and the Mini Moog. Too much fun. GOD BLESS Bob Moog and Alan R. Pearlman.

50 cents for 25 non-volatile patch memories... sometimes I wonder whether evolution has actually been progress after all... (Not that I can make informed comment; that patch sheet is dated 12 days after my first birthday )
