I want to raise this issue with Alesis support and am posting to this board first to get other members' comments on this first. In other words, is it just me, or are there others who have the same issue, or different issues, with the Fusion's leslie effects.
Re the Fusion's leslie effects:
I have never played an keyboard through a an orginal leslie effect unit, so I can't say that I know precisely what an original leslie effect is supposed to sound like, but clearly one of the great "effects" of this effect is the speeding up and slowing down of the leslie motor.
I find that the leslie effect in my Alesis QSR sounds better to my ears, than the Fusion leslie effect, because the speed with which the motor, in the QSR, changes from slow to fast and vice versa is slower. The leslie effect on the Fusion changes motor speed too fast, making it sound inferior to my ears.
I noticed that the fast speed on the QSR is faster than the fast speed on the Fusion. Again, I don't know what the original leslie effect sounds like, but too me the faster fast-speed motor of the QSR sounds better than the Fusions slower fast-speed motor.
The faster fast-speed motor of the QSR perhaps, partly, accounts for the longer duration of the slow-to-fast-and-vice-versa change of QSR leslie effect as compared to the Fusion's leslie effect.
I am hoping that it is possible to improve on the Fusion's leslie effect, and look forward to any comments regarding this issue.
Thanks,
Valiant

Try assigning the speed parameters to the knobs so you can run them in real time. That will put more life into the sound,

There are three or four different Leslie effects. One of them speeds up too fast IMHO, the other ones sound just fine. It also happens that the one that speeds up too fast isn't an effect I've found a use for due to its qualities, the ramp up and down speeds aside. The others sound great IMHO. Have you tried all of them? They work perfectly when you assign S1 and S2 to turn on the effect and to set the speed.

Thanks, mps and sizzlemeister for your quick response! It just goes to show how little I still know about the Fusion, that I haven't even properly familiarised myself with the different rotary effects.

I've had very good luck doubling up the leslie fx. Use one insert and one bus, set the mod-wheel or one of the "S" buttons to affect the speed on both effects, adjust to taste. This seems to add a bit more "variability" to the sound and, to me, sounds much more authentic at fast speeds. I set the speeds differently for the 2 effects so they are not exactly in-sync. You can still hear the fast rotating effect, but you don't get as much of a regular throbbing/pulsing sound. To me this seems akin to a real leslie throwing sound around a room filled with near and far objects for the sound to bounce to/from at different times/rates.
