Hi, I am repairing a non functional Fusion 8HD, below is what I have done so far.
I found a broken circuit board on the pitch bend wheel ( I ordered the Pitch Modulation Assembly from Akai Parts for $14), the 40 wire connector on the main PCB was broken and a third of the wires pulled up, I repaired the cable connector and reconnected the cable to the main PCB. I now have a blank blue screen on the Fusion.
Still no luck with the broken Fusion, I tried switching out the old power supply with a new one - no change
The display dimmer has no effect on the display so I replaced the old dimmer circuit board with a new one, still no change.
I turned on my working Fusion, when the dimmer switch is turned all the way up I get a blank blue screen like on the broken Fusion When I turn the dimmer switch down on my working Fusion I can read the text, so I believe the problem may be in the dimmer circuitry (hopefully)
No audio from the headphone jack or main output
I disconnected the inverter pc board to see if any text would show up on the display, no good
I reconnected the inverter pc board and turned power back on and there was a brief display of vertical lines on the left side of the screen
Any thoughts about what the problem might be would be appreciated.
Thanks ...Jesse

I received the Fusion Pitch & Mod wheel assembly (part # TWPITCH/MOD), waiting for the LCD/LED back light screen to show up. If I don't have a working LCD screen after replacing the LCD screen, I will order the right front PCB Panel Assembly that the LCD screen is connected to (part # 9-79-0308-A about $86) It appears that the product lines listed below are coming under the name INMUSIC www.inmusicsales.com/products ION Audio Numark Alesis Akai Pro Mixmeister Alto Professional SONiVOX M-Audio

I received the 240x128 graphic LCD display with 5 volt LED back light, I will probably change it to a 12 volt LED to make use of the dimmer PCB power source. Moving on to the next phase. Install new Pitch/Mod assembly and LCD display. Stay Tuned to a Forum near you for the results as time and money allow me to continue. Attachments:

Note that the Fusion LCD and the Hantronix HDM 128GS24 both have the same 240x128 graphics display and use the same Toshiba T6963C display controller (see attached PDF file) I tested pin 3 from the LCD output of the Front Right PCB with the fusion turned on and it measured -11.5 volts. The pin outs appear to be the same, if anyone notices any differences (see attached PDF file) please let me know.
I connected the Hantronix HDM 128GS24 LCD display to the Fusion and it had the same blank display as the original Fusion LCD display. I have ordered the right front PCB, part 9-79-308-A, hopefully this will enable the LCD display (and some LEDS that are out) to function properly. Once the LCD display is working I can start experimenting with different drives and memory devices for storage. Attachments:

So far I have spent about $130 for parts + S&H $14 for the Pitch Modulation Assembly (part # TWPITCH/MOD) from Akai Parts, Numark (now In Music) $20 for the Hantronix LCD display HDM128GS24 www.mpja.com/LCD-Display-240-X-128-Graphic-with-Backlight/productinfo/31003%20OP/#$92 for the Right Front PCB 9-79-308-A from Akai Parts, Numark (now In Music) I contacted Alesis Service Center TSI in NJ, they estimated $186 to repair it based on the information I gave them, I still may end up sending it to them, but I am hoping to resolve the problems myself so other Fusion users will have more information to help them do the work themselves.

Well I received the Right Front PCB, only problem might be that I ordered 9-79-0308-A and I received part 9-40-0308-A? I hope to start back working on the Fusion Monday 12-30-13 Attachments:

I called Numark/InMusic and there was no explanation for the difference in the listed part number and the part number printed on the PCB. I am getting ready to check it out and see if this fixes my problem.

Well after installing the new Right Front PCB I still have a blank screen on both the original and replacement Hantronix LCD. I don't think the LCD display is the issue, I think the display may not be receiving the data input it needs. It appears the Right Front PCB is just a relay between the Main board PCB to the LCD. I will contact Alesis and one or more service centers in an attempt to determine if this is true and to find out what component(s) on the main board might be the culprit Stay tuned I will continue with this project as time and money allow. Alesis if you are around Please help me with this! Thanks

Jesse
At this point I think you know more about the Fusion than Alesis does!
If mine ever breaks you'll be first person I call

The first week of September I will have a week to myself and will resume testing and attempting to repair my non working Fusion 8HD and plan to work on my non working Fusion again, I plan to open up my working Fusion and connect my non working Fusion top half to the bottom half of my working Fusion to get a little more insight into the problem. Hopefully I will not damage my working Fusion.
I will probably tinker with the SATA & IDE connections and some SATA II 3 Gb drives also.
I will post any info I find.
If anyone has any Fusion parts they don't need working or non working please send them to me, I will continue to test non working parts to determine their failure and report my results here.
If you have a non working Fusion 6HD or 8HD you do not want and would like to donate to me for research or sell to me for parts let me know. email me here jms23185@aol.com or post private message here.
Take Care ... Jesse

I admire you for being so patient and methodical with this attempted repair. I think I would be too scared to risk my working Fusion, but then I have a history of DIY disasters behind me!

Thanks, I would like to do it first hand if possible so I can document what I find to share with everyone. I definitely will test the inexpensive replacement LCD display I found to verify if it will work in the Fusion, I am pretty sure it will Take Care ... Jesse
