The 6HD has less free space inside his body than the 8HD, so its inner temperature reaches very high values. My studio is in the attic and in summer it's very hot. In june I started to have a strange phenomenon with the 3rd rotary knob : after one or two hours running, it began to behave abnormally : first it made some jumps to the highest value, then it was impossible to have a linear course, and at the end it was stuck fully right, at the highest value with no mean to move it. Next day, same issue. The Fusion is the center of my studio and I don't want to send it to UK for maintenance, so I took the difficult decision to void the warranty and to solve this issue myself, by installing a second fan into it. Now with a big computer fan at the left of the main board, I can work much longer without having any overheating problem. (sorry for my poor English, but I think my French should be even harder to understand )

Good work. If you open the board again, feel free to share some photos of your modifications, I think it would be interesting.
I had previously considered adding a heat sink to the hard disk for this reason. Although mine has not yet overheated, it is something I keep in mind, when it gets warm here.
PS. I also have a CX3 btw, and had long considered a PC1x! How do you find the Fusion alongside those boards? eg. what sort of sounds would you turn to the Fusion for, and what would you turn to the PC1x for etc.

Of course I use the CX3 for organ sounds ! It's way better then the Fusion because of the physical drawbars, amp simulation and rotary speaker effect. You really hear an organ, not a synth simulating one.
I love Kurzweil's pianos : my main piano sound is a PC1x program is a chorussed one, sort of half way between an acoustic piano and a CP70 sound. With great effects, it's completly pro-sounding. A often use the PC1x's orchestral strings and one or two lush and slightly evolving pads, great for Pink Floyd covers. My favourite electric bass comes from this keyboard, too.
I use Fusion for all kinds of sounds, it's very versatile. But when I think I could get a better result with my other keyboards, I use them instead of the 6HD. As Alan Parsons said in an interview, "always use the best sounds available". I totally agree with this, and when I'm looking for sounds for my creations or covers, I only keep the best I have, that's why I don't work with only one synth.
