Friends,
Being new to Alesis, and archaic in sequencing technology, what do folks mean by the Fusion is not a Pattern-Based sequencer? Many of the drum programs have a built-in "pattern" that, since I am horrible at coming up with my own drum riffs, I would love to use in my Songs. Does the Fusion allow for this, or do I have to create a drum loop, and try to plunk away at a drum track note by note?
Much appreciation!

No problem in doing this, you can set up up to 4 patterns in a Song which each have 4 variations. You can program buttons to switch from one to another, use one pattern for drums, another for bass etc.
If I say the Fusion does not have a pattern sequencer, I mean that you cannot construct a song by chaining patterns, e.g. A-A-A-A-B-B-C-C-A-A-A-A or that you cannot switch to random patterns on the fly (although you CAN do so in a limited way in edit mode).
But, for your needs (drum riffs with variations etc) - perfect. BTW, you also have various modes for syncing and latching patterns.

Thank you, Guydenruyter.
So I can choose one of the drum programs that contains a pre-constructed riff, load it into a "song", load my piano or other instrument in the second track, and so on? How do I start the drums, can I just begin playing the second instrument and it launches the song?
Again, my familiarity with sequencing has almost two decades of dust, so I am really behind the learning curve. But I am commited to working hard to get up to speed.
Very much appreciation, Mark

Hi Mark, you can program the trigger, and that can be indeed 'key down' - so it starts playing along. Beware that you're working on a synth/workstation, and not on a home keyboard (which are usually much better in auto-accomp stuff etc)
