Posted this over on FusionZone as well...
Wanted to say hi and thanks to the folks on both forums, whose tips, advice, etc, have been a big help.
I'm mainly a guitar player, but wanted a nice workstation to hone my keyboard skills with and supplement some of our recordings. Purchased an 8HD a month ago from Sweetwater. Also got the Groovetubes SFX amp, which is impressive. All items shipped well and so far, no problems with the board. As a newbie, I like the Fusion's interface and the learning curve has been fine. I've been converting, loading and editing many sounds since purchase and this board can sound great (Hollow Sun, KPR and SONiVOX sounds are really good). Reference manual content is not as bad as some have said - it's all in there, just don't count on the index to help you find it.
Of interest: Although one of SW's engineers told me they went back to shipping the Fusions with the 40 GB hard drive, mine came with an 80 GB. The rep quoted me some info (which I believe I also read here) that suggested the bigger HD's were causing some OS issues. But so far, all seems to be fine. In addition, my board shipped with v1.24 OS, the full memory upgrade, and all the extra soundbanks listed on the SW website. From what I'm seeing lately, I think I may have gotten my order in "just under the wire." I see that Music123 and Musician's Friend still have some at good prices, though not with the extras. If you're considering a Fusion purchase, and if Sweetwter again offers their package, I can say I am very satisfied with them.
Thanks again and take care all!
