Hi! Have just started looking for a keyboard for my 13 year old son to use (he is really a drummer but likes messing with our piano) and noticed the fusion ex-demo for £500. I have some experience of old mono korgs, DX7 and Ensonique Mirage and admit I really fancy getting back into some serious sequencing .I am not a great keyboard player but can have good ideas and like messing about. Would the 8HD be an ideal tool or should I go software based instead? Is £500 about the right price? If it goes wrong can I get it fixed?

Hi - and welcome!
You could have a lot of fun with an 8HD and you're not new to this so you could (should) be ok.
Depends where you are regarding getting it fixed. That said, there's a lot of bunk about how many go wrong and most can be fixed and Alesis are, on the whole, pretty good about it.
Try one out. If you can't get to the store, use their 30-day money back facility perhaps and try it out in the comfort of your own home ... see how you and your son get on with it.
Good luck.

Yes I feel I could have fun with it but is £500 a decent price for ex-demo (with warranty) .I live near Leeds ,Yorkshire so not sure if there are any local dealers.

£500 is a very decent price - you can pay that much and more for a weighted 88-note keyboard controller with no sounds. You're looking at upwards of £2,000 or more for some of the competition.
I don't know if any dealers up north will have any for you to try out. Alesis UK may know.
But you seem to have a source - do they have a returns policy?
There are trading laws regarding blind mail order transactions that might allow you to try that particular £500 Fusion out and return it if it's unsuitable. Speak to whoever it is that is selling it.

Thanks. I will give Alesis a ring or email and also the company selling the board and see what they say about returns.
