Hi everyone, I have an issue here that I believe many of the fusion users might have. I need to transfer my music from the synthesizer to CD. Most of you will do that through the pc... I don't have a good sound card and since I bought the Fusion I am not using my PC for music production anymore. So, does anyone knows a good CD recorder that would do the job? Thanks in advance

Hi traboukos, I started recording a few months ago and I have been using a stand-alone digital recorder; a Boss BR1200CD which allows you to record, add onboard effects and mix down to wav or aif and burn to CD and you can convert the files of course to mp3 for posting/sharing by using one of many freely available software shareware programmes. Although I've been trying out one or two software recording prorammes recently and I like them more for their edit capabilities; I tend to stick with the stand-alone recorder because I've got used to the way of working and also by routing my keyboards/sound modules through a mixer to the recorder I can record 'live' and go with the flow or get down ideas quickly. There are many different stand-alone recording units on the market ... Tascam, Yamaha, Korg, Roland, Boss etc from 4 to 16 or 32 track I believe ... so you will have a wide choice depending on your budget. Hope that helps a bit ... just my perspective at the moment Check out the members studios section of the forum as there are one or two members I have noticed use stand-alone recording units as a simple solution ... if I get a chance I will update my own posting later as I think the original links are dead. Best regards ... Rainbow:)

Traboukos, If you're using your Fusion to do the "music production" in Song Mode, you can physically route your Main Outputs to the Audio Inputs on your Fusion (if you do this in Song mode, you'll need to have the Audio Input channels set to the Aux Outputs to avoid feedback when you're recording). Considering you stated you don't use a computer for production, you may want to just record one Audio Input (i.e., the L or the R) into one Audio Input channel. One obvious downside is that this file will not be stereo. If that is acceptable, you can transfer any "Audio Input" file via USB to a PC. The only "production" you'll need to do on the computer is to change these 24 bit .WAV files to 16 bit. This may not be what you're looking for, but it is a possible alternative that you can likely do with pre-existing equipment.
PSIONIC has posted some helpful instructions for this process on Fusionzone. Good luck

This is one job that a computer would be good at. Using a good DAW program would allow you to get you songs out of the Fusion as individual tracks. That would allow you to revisit old projects later on and remix tracks.
If you just want to record a stereo mix then I would go with a used multi- track recorder with a CD burner. You can find the Boss models or the Yamaha AW16G second hand for good prices.

Don't look any further than the Alesis Masterlink... that's what I use. You can record higher quality CDs to be sent to mastering, if you ever feel so inclined

Thanks for the replies guys, I 've checked the options you suggested me and I noticed that a stand - alone recorder costs more than a good (I guess) sound card for the PC :S .Both boss BR1200CD and Alesis masterlink ML-9600 (I suppose that one you meant "christianrock") are about 750euros and Yamaha AW16G second hand is about 500euros... Even if I know that are the best solutions for me, the economic crisis doesn't let me buy one of them at least new . I got lucky these days and a friend gave me Philips CRD 760 so I have all the time I need to find something that suits to me and my pocket. I will check for second hand CDR probably about 300euros having also in mind what you proposed. About the option "Chief Big Smoke" wrote, I have tried this long time ago and I got too much feedback and no sound :/ . You said that I have to connect the AUX output ------> Audio channel input, but I will be not able to have stereo sound. So why not to connect both AUX outputs into 2 Audio inputs and them mix them? I will check PSIONICs post as well... Thanks again for the replies

Traboukos, I have a philips CDR 796 that I use for mixing down to and creating CD's etc. I also have a Boss BR600 a very stripped down version of the BR1200, no cdrw writer no digi out no Mic inputs. It is still a great machine that takes compact flash cards, same as fusion, upto 2 GB. it is 8 track recorder with 2 track simaultaneous recording. It also has a drum machine that you can create your own patterns and you can import WAV files to make up your own custom kit.
The effects are fantastic and can be used very flexibly. It has USB 2.0 as well so you can upload your songs to P.C etc.
I would definately have a look at one, it's a quality machine and only £180, maybe 200 euros with the exchange rate.

a friend gave me Philips CRD 760 Is that "give" as in give you to keep ... or "give" as in 'lend' for a short period of time? If he has 'given' it to you to keep, I think you have your solution! If he's only lending it to you, ask him if you can buy it from him. The CDR760's a good recorder and probably pretty much all you need.

So why not to connect both AUX outputs into 2 Audio inputs and them mix them? Whether you connect one or two outputs (both Main or both Aux), in order to get them off the Fusion as one file, they cannot be stereo. You could use two audio inputs to record a left and right output, but you would be left with two files. I was trying to avoid using a PC (or other hardware/software) for "music production." Either way, it seems like you've got your problem solved thanks to your friend. good luck

Unfortunately is not a "give - keep" solution but a temporary one (I don't think he is going to sell it)... At the moment I think is pretty hard to find cheap stand alone CD recorders. Since the PC CDRW came on top, it felt like the audio companies gave up on the stand alone CD recorders production :S . They steel produce of course but just a few and very expensive pieces. At the moment I am OK with the CDR760, so I'll maybe come back in the future when I will feel the need for advice, asking again about CD recorders
