Wrote a song called Majesty. Check it out on my page. www.reverbnation.com/natelee It's insane synthesizer baroque music. 100% Fusion. All preset sounds. Thanks for listening.

Wow. That's interesting. I like it. Never thought about anyone doing a classical piece on the fusion before. Nice.

Dude, you just keep on amazing me. I like that piece on so many fronts -- the great rhythmic intricacies without using a single bass or snare or HH, the excellent blending of a variety of sonic characters/caricatures, the many motifs, the overall build and fall and development, the audacity of a singular style, the mark of professionalism throughout...
I better stop gushing. Makes me mad at myself for getting stuck on a few sounds and songs and styles that sound overly repetitive. Excellent stuff there; no wonder you've been quiet lately -- you've been producing!
btw, did you mean to spell it "Mejesty" on the site?

Glad you guys like it. To be technically specific this piece is a concerto grosso for strings and synthesizer. It was a blend of the styles of Bach with Rameau's harmonic sensibility. Rameau has come to be my absolute favorite composer. check this out. half way through it gets fast and crazy like my piece. Rameau's music is my absolute favorite music to listen to while I drink. He has the most interesting collection of keyboard music which I am quite fond of. He is the only composer to ever bring me to tears with his music. So you should definitely research Rameau. I highly recommend buying Platee on DVD. Here is another video you must watch and listen.
This music started a war in 1700s. Please listen to all of it and give it a chance. If you don't love it by the end then I would never be able to impress you with anything else. This is what I want to be. I want to be this much out there for my time.
Psionic, you flatter me. I actually wrote this piece early in the summer on a single morning. I hadn't released it because I wasn't sure that I wanted it to end the way that it did...not so soon. Today I listened to it, made some adjustments and decided that it was enough as it was. If it should continue it would have to be another movement which I may decide to do. I've not been doing so much production stuff lately. I'm working on a few concerts coming up and that's where my efforts have been instead of finishing and recording my little side projects. Now I'm truly in touch with the Fusion and the things I'm working on now will be my best work yet. It is as if the Fusion is an extension of myself. I hate that the machine got a bad wrap because it truly does take a few years to really get in touch with it. This is my experience any way. I have found that I can work with the fusion much better exclusively in song mode now. The presets are a nice expose of all the sounds, but you truly understand them when you can get them in song mode and manipulate them with the parameters options. Well I'm starting to ramble. I didn't mean to spell it "Mejesty" on the site. I will correct this. Thanks. I'm so grateful that I have an avenue here that I can share my work and discuss it with like-minded individuals. It's always a highlight of my day. Thanks everyone for that.

Although I'm not a fan of opera, I will give these videos a fair shot despite the young suits with their mouths open surrounded by orchestral instruments....lol...
Further repeated listenings to Majesty reveals a more basic pattern, the descending diatonic which is simply embellished upon by traditional counterpoint, and layered upon by an almost seemingly improvised approach, but even Dixieland with its simultaneously ad-libbed parts doesn't have this intentional, harmonious meshing...
Was "Majesty" composed via traditional voicing techniques, or is it a product of various live improvs with different voices all captured and layered digitally only?>

On quick side note, I've lately become a bit dis-enchanted with the Fusion lately. Perhaps you've gone through this stage, and I'd like to know what mindset brought you back around to enjoyment again.
My problem may be that I was stuck on a few thick sawtooth-type sounds, trying to play big classical type pieces. Maybe it's the room; my ears are tired of the white noise, the boxy reflections, tired of missing the subtle richnesses of stuff like WinAmp's groovesalad mellow radio station. (so it's not my speakers so much, right?)
Layering a few synth patches from my different machines has been mostly miss lately rather than hit. I have been pre-occupied with work and school, but I think conceptually realizing I can't get the old analog-type lushness or even the hoped-for sampled orchestral accuracy that I ultimately strive for.... all this jades my perceptions and expectations. Throws you off mood. Like Shreddie accurately noted, the Fusion's filters aren't anything to write home about. Which doesn't matter so much if you're into sampled recreations, but on a more expressive note, it does matter.
My ears actually bother me... I want to turn off the room fan, the computer and its noise, the air-purifier; want to turn up the sweet mids in a mix, bring out the juicy uppers of a patch, smooth out the boomy mid-bassiness, long for the so-present bottom richness of the analog memories, etc, but have a disappointing time dialing in these pleasures... Is it just me, is my hearing going, or am I just over the acoustics of this space?
What is your acoustic space? Space inspires or traps you, does it not?

Wow. That's simply great. You keep getting better and better every time I hear something from you. And I agree that it ended too soon

Thanks guys. Psionic, you need to take a break... like a 2 week break from music all together, or at least until you feel like you will explode from not making music. Trust me, when you return you'll be fresher than ever. There are pictures of my set up around somewhere. It's very organic and flowing. It's not mechanistic at all and it shares the same space that I use for keeping company and having parties. If you want analog sound, I'm afraid you need to get an analog machine. If you want an orchestra...well you get the picture. You have to look at the Fusion as digital and use it as such without hoping to achieve anything else. Really though it seems you are trying too hard which happens to me. Sometimes you just need to turn off the technology and go outside for a while. Buy a children's piano, go sit outside and just have fun making music with that for a while. store.drumbum.com/media/kids-toy-piano.jpg

Hehe, toy piano indeed. Why get that when I already have the Fusion's piano... <doh> j/k But you're right. I've currently got my guitar cranked, microphone in place, and a couple beers inspiring me on a long-deserved mini-vacation.
