I may have the chance to go and see it again (in 3D of course) next Wednesday!
Is it wrong to fancy a blue CGI female alien?

Is it wrong to fancy a blue CGI female alien? I do hope not! Nor is it wrong to fancy the girl who does her voice, Zoe Saldana. Oh, and it may be the highest grossing movie of all time but that's down to inflation, it has a way to go before it beats 'Gone with the wind' as the most watched movie of all time.

True to my word . . . I did indeed see it again last night.
To my surprise (or maybe not) the cinema was almost sold out despite being around six weeks after its release! In fact it was quite bizarre to realise that the first time I saw this film was Christmas Eve 2009!
And I still fancy that gorgeous female blue alien . . .
;D ;D ;D

Saw the movie tonight.
Excellent! Really, very good. Within minutes I forgot we were watching CGI. Incredible. And the 3D was awesome.
My only criticism, was the score. What a bland non-event that was. James Horner should be ashamed. Instantly forgettable, formulaic pap. Not a theme to stir the heart, nothing to come away from the movie going around in your head.
Good job everything else about the movie was so good. I'm amazed Cameron didn't fire the guy after listening to the drafts.

I do seem to recall a couple of better bits, but maybe they just stood out because they were average instead of crap!

Lots of people saying the same kind of thing over at the East West (Sounds Online) forums . . . and many of them write scores for a living! Is it possible that James Horner's brief was to produce music that did not distract from the visual elements? Yes I know that all good composers should be able to create good scores with this in mind but, with this particular movie, it did have a lot riding on the cutting edge visuals! I really wish I could see it a third time but it has to be The Wolfman for me next . . .
