Is there any way to make the sustain pedal not to "sustain" 100%?
Here is what I already tried. I open "edit" of the holy grail piano and go to "mod". I add a mod, as a "controller" I select the "sustain pedal". From there it seems that I have the option to change the "sustain level". "Env 1" looks like it changes the volume of the sustain... no use for me. "Env 2" I can't figure what exactly is doing :S... sounds like nothing to me. I also tried to control the sustain level with my "F2 Alesis volume/expression pedal" but it seems that the volume is addicted too. I think that the issue with the expression pedal is old stuff... Unfortunately "F2 alesis expression pedal" works great with my Roland keyboards unlike " alesis fusion".
Thanks in advance, Aris

Firstly, use of the sustain pedal has little to do with the actual sustain level of the envelope.
What depressing the sustain pedal actually does is delay the onset of the 'Release' stage of the envelope. It's like fooling the synth into thinking that it's keys have not been released. On almost all synths, the sustain pedal input is hardwired to do this and cannot be changed. Unfortunately, I don't have my Fusion handy so I can't check whether this is the case with our beloved silver beast. Only when you release the pedal will the synth go into the release stage of the envelope.
I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to do but I'm guessing you want a slower release time so that the notes fade away more gradually when the pedal is depressed. What I would to to achieve this is plug a pedal into the foot switch input (or use your expression pedal on it's input) and create a mod to adjust the Release time appropriately.

Hi Traboukos,
if there is already a Envelope or even two setted then you just need to change the values. You get a loud hold effect, when the Volume Sustain amount is 100%, a soft hold effect with 30%. You get a decay curve when you set Sustain to 0% (it will disappear then from the option list) and set a decay amount of let's say 15 seconds, depends on how you need that.
Add a Modulation only when there is none that already does the job, just change the amount. When you have the same Modulation source > dest twice, you will get confused and your Fusion too :-)

Hi there,
Yes Shreddie, what I am trying to do is to achieve a slower release time and your solution worked just fine! I plugged the pedal in the foot switch input. After that I created a new mod and adjust the release time in about 20% and worked as magic...! It was so easy... Thank you both for the replies.
