Hi,
[N.B. What follows is for the PC. The Mac requires a different procedure]
This document describes the procedure for BOTH platform:
alesis.com/extras/product/fusion/HDVolumeInstallation.zip
When you drop the <Volume> folder of the banks you are loading onto the ROOT of the Fusion's HD - it will announce that <Volume> already exists - overwrite? . . . Just respond <Yes>.
As you are re-installing, the files will be overwritten with identical copies.
The only instance where new banks will be created in this operation is if there are NEW BANKS which are not already there.
Memory is not the issue here. The Packs you are installing reside on the Fusion's HD. If it's an early Fusion it will be a 40Gb Drive. This was later upgraded to an 80Gb. The final OS1.24 will, I believe accomodate a 120Gb drive.
I know of no-one who has come close to filling even 1/10th of their HD with Banks/programs.
If you make lots of AUDIO tracks - that a different matter
Remember - the <Volume> folder of the Pack you are installing drops into the ROOT of the Fusion's HD - NOT into the <Volume> folder of the Fusion HD.
Just in case, BEFORE you do any of the above, it is wise to copy the entire <Volume> folder of the Fusion's HD onto your computer somewhere - as a backup, incase anything goes wrong.
Then you can just, re-format the Fusion's HD (Using the Fusion's format utility - NOT Windows) and copy the Volume folder back on to it - and you'll be back where you were . . .
pm me your email address and I send you joeri peeter's very fine guide to the Fusion's Filing system
Best Regards

Thanks for the info. As I have already installed some of these packs, I'm wondering what would happen if I would reinstall a sound that is already installed: would it detect that and overwrite the existing one or would it install it a second time in a free bank and eat up memory as it would be sitting twice on the fusion then?
