Hey Fusioneers, here is the new sample library w/Program Presets: The Fusion 8/12 Bit Heritage by kpr The early sampler generation is famous for the charming imperfect sounds, and this new sample library is a nice rendition. You get those small sized brass, piano, strings as well as so many one-shot orchestrals, vocals and even sound effects. The sounds are done with Emulator II, S-550, TX-16W and others, and the results edited with modern tools while keeping the original flavour and sound character. Also provided with this vintage sample library: rare Mellotron reels, Optigan, Martenot, Orchestrion, Hurdy Gurdy, Synclavier FM, Fairlight, Chamberlin. In total there are more than 500 MB unique samples with 256 Presets. This library is a must have for all those who want the very special sound from the 8 and 12 Bit days as well as the rare samplers foreunners. Special Controller assignment for brilliance, tone length, effects etc. to make them conveniently playable. - Over 200 multisampled instruments including a few one shots. - 256 Program Presets: Layers and single instruments. Sophisticated Controller programming for Control Knobs 1-4, Modulation Wheel, SW1 and 2, T1 – T4 Buttons, Aftertouch, Pitch Bend. - Price: Euro 39,--, download product, optional CD, library size over 500 MB, 3 sample banks (= 3 zip data packages) Audio track mp3: Fusion 8/12 Bit Heritage by kprBest regards Klaus

Good job Klaus! More ass-kicking Mellotron sounds for the Fusion's vast arsenal. I was just listening to 'Pictures at an Exhibition' a couple of days ago (Philadelphia Orch.). Do you have ESP too? Good stuff. I was waiting to hear the Ondes Martenot to no avail. I've been looking to reproduce that 'ghostly' sound for years. Olivier Messiaen's 'Sextet of Ondes Martenot' has always been one of my favorite pieces. Are there any MIXES in your new collection? I think they are your forte. I still love UltraSynth II. I am intending to use some of those sounds on the forthcoming (2011) "Let me tell you about Phaedra" on the composition "Time Wave Zero" which will take about a year to write.

Wow, this one should be a big hit! Ugh, I still haven't bought MyAndromeda yet... ...saving for a real Andromeda but I might get frustrated with the wait and start loading up the Fusion again... lol... By the way I made another one of my friends buy a Fusion (like I did with Suilebhain ) and I've been telling him about all these available sounds... he got a Sweetwater 8HD too... I'm actually kinda jealous...

This looks promising (I haven't heard the demo yet here, at work). Can you elaborate on what are the actual sounds available in this package? For things like Mellotron, Optigan, Chamberlin, Fairlight, etc. it's quite significant to know which sounds from these keyboards are included, and which are not. Also, I presume these are your own sources? Did you manage to hire/rent (or own) all of these keyboards at one point to sample from? The story behind the sounds would be interesting. In some ways, I think the mellotron/chamberlin/optigan should have been separated to its own "Tape Heritage" collection (since they aren't in any way 8 or 12 bit), but then it makes much more sense from a marketable point of view to be collected together here (as there are already several dedicated collections for those keyboards). Or maybe this should have been named the "Tape/Optical/8/12-bit Heritage" Oh, BTW, are the tape sounds looped? I still like my idea of a "Tape Experimentations" library, with clever controller parameters to manipulate the included sounds like tape (forward, backwards, tape speed/pitch, etc). Something that harks back to the days of "Revolution #9" (from the Beatles' White Album) and other tape loop wonders such as those in the early BBC Radiophonic Workshop days. Since I'm no sound programmer -- can the more experienced tell me if this is actually possible?

Wow, sounds very nice, klaus. I didn't at first seem to interested in old samples from the past, but man was I wrong... The sounds, and your melodies that demonstrate the 'story' behind each sound, are much more that I expected at first. 'Charming' is a great way to put it.. the demo alone is worth several re-listens, very inspiring to me. In fact, going back and listening to all your demos throuighout the years, they are each really good. Thanks again for great Fusion material.

Looks that the new ... Heritage is the right thing. Good! Julia updated the store site as well as the product page, so everything should be correctly now.
Ray, you can request the documentation PDF to get an impression what's included in detail. I am doing professional sampling since 1993 and vintage instruments sample libraries is one of the main fields I am working for. Although I have a network also with rare instrument owners in this case it took rather long to find instruments in a good shape.
There are no MIX, Joseph. It makes it a bit easier to handle the data.
Ray: Concerning smaller packages. This is a plan since long, and I already asked some questions about it here in this forum. Perhaps this can be done in the future, and until this we have what we have.
Cheers
Klaus

There was a little mistake on the website's product page, where a sample ibrary size 1.1. GB was mentioned. This is wrong, it is 520 MB.
Why the 1.1 GB? The Heritage ... is also available in ws5-engine VST format, and this is 32 Bit and that doubles the size to 1.1 GB.
Sorry for anybody who was confused. Julia already updated the product page and now everything should be correct.
Info: I am doing a 3rd Program Bank, those who purchased the Heritage ... will receive the 3rd Bank automatically when it is done.
Also there was the question whether the samples are looped. Of course they are, especially the Mellotron and Orchestrion samples, and there are just a few unlooped one-shots.
I noticed two wrong mappings, this will be corrected soon too.
Cheers
Klaus
