before you look elsewhere, Check Brian Allen's Sector101 site here: www.sector101.co.uk/exm-e3.htmlBrian has remanufactured these, and the prices to my recollection are HALF that (or better) than the Alesis/Akai offerings. There are pricings too for International destinations, further down the page . . . . . These are excellent modules, made to a very high standard (as are all Brian's offerings). I actually tested Brian's first ones on my own 8HD. Worked Flawlessly. (You need TWO for a full upgrade) Best Regards parametric

I can heartily recommend Brian's EM-E3 128Mb modules. Just purchased 2 with shipping from UK for $135 and they perform flawlessly. I installed myself, restarted to find NO memory expansion installed. Took apart again to discover I hadn't fully seated the modules.. Firmly pushed them into their respective sockets, rebooted & presto: 192mb available each engine. Installed a 32Gb KingSpec SSD with the approved sled, and pulled the "hammer" weights off of the 8HD's keyboard to save about 25 lbs & get a quick action. Amazing board now, and both engines happily sated thanks to Brian's contribution to the Fusion forum. . . .

Sounds like an excellent conclusion, finnigan . . . . That second expansion is a swine - and requires you delve deeper than you probably feel comfortable with The SSD is a good move too, and to be honest, at 32Gb it's only a bit less than the Fusion's original config. I did the full 120Gb (just because I could) but I have to say that even with all the HS Banks, Joeri's Vstreams + one commercial one, a bunch of Klaus' Banks AND the entire Fusion original demos (including all the audio tracks), I'm still only at ~9Gb As to the keybed weights, I've not heard of that idea before . . . . Is it a "Homebrew" of your own or did you read it somewhere? I have to wonder what it is like to play? How different to the weighted "feel"? As primarily a Piano player, the action is important, or course, though the weight saving IS an interesting proposition especially if moving it around . . . . The 8HD IS a heavy Beast!
