Hi all, I just got myself a Fusion 6HD to go with my well worn 8HD. This one is in pretty good nick and is a REV B with 80GB hard drive. Done all the diagnostic tests and it passed with flying colours apart from the encoder test that was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes they failed and then passed but do appear to be working correctly without the values changing on their own. I now remember why I sold my Fusion 6HD 7-8 years ago.....the dreaded clacky keybed! . Also this one does get quite hot so if your around Parametric I would appreciate your input as regards to upgrading the hard drive to a SSD please. I have down loaded your excellent installation PDF but just want to clarify a few things. 1. Does the SSD have 44 pin connector? 2. is there a certain type of 2.5 to 3.5 cradle I need to buy? 3. Did you buy all three components, SSD drive, power/data cable and cradle from the same seller? Thanks in advance for any help. Bob

Hi Bob, 1) Yes, the SSD has 44pins 2) I think most any cradle that will allow you to fit 1 (or 2) 2.5" drive into a 3.5" bay will do. The one I used was plastic and could hold 2 drives. There are others - a metal one in two parts (U-sections) is also fine but more fiddly to assemble . . Bert Devries www.synthstudiodevries.com/page.php?25.0 followed my method and found a really neat adaptor, but I just checked, and its not available any more sadly www.delock.de/produkte/F_367_Einbaurahmen_18177/merkmale.html3) No, the cradle and the little power lead item are freely available from most computer part sources and online . . The SSD will almost certainly have to come from China, as ALL SSDs I have seen in shops in the UK are ALWAYS SATA - which won't work . . . If you search for PATA SSD - you should find them from a number of suppliers. 128Gb is the largest the Fusion can handle (AFAIK) and will be formatted to 120Gb by the Fusion. This is correct . . . BTW I too have both Fusions 6 & 8, and both have the upgraded Ram AND the 128GB SSDs - My 8HD has been running for 3 years so far, with the SSD . . . ATB parametric PS - following recent revelations over the PSU - I just bought 2 from InMusic Europe, here in the UK - InMusic USA is declaring them discontinued and unavailable, when asked

Hi Chris,
Thank you for your reply. It is much appreciated.
I did look on amazon and ebay and they are both selling the 128GB SSD drives for between £68-71. I think I will buy just one for the 6HD as the 8HD has the normal 120GB drive and doesn't get hot. I will also get the RAM chips from sector 101. Thanks for the info also on the PSU. I think it will be wise to get a couple. I have just sent In Muisc an email asking if they have anymore PSU's for sale.
Out of interest does your 6HD have noisy, clacky keys? This is my 2nd 6HD and they have both had noisy keybeds.
Thanks
Bob.

Are the keys 'clacking' on the case.
You could try slackening the screws holding the cover to see if adjusting it will stop the noise.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the tip. I did think about getting a strip of felt like on a piano to see if it deadens the noise.
