I have an Alesis "Engineering Change Notice" dated 9/12/05, ordering the change from 40Gb to 80Gb Hard Disk.
Reason given - that the 5400 r.p.m. 40Gb drive was out of production and could no longer be sourced in quantity, and also that the 80Gb drive was RoHS compliant.
Depending on where you live, the date could be 9th December, or 12th September. (IYSWIM)
Old 40Gb drive - 7-10-0118 New 80Gb drive - 7-10-0129
WikiPedia shows production from 2005 - 2008
I don't have any more detail than that . .

I posted this on FusionZone a short while ago.
"I read on Wikipedia that the Fusion was produced from 2005 through 2008.
I'm really trying to get an idea of what year my Fusion is. I don't know of any date code on or in the unit. The Western Digital 80G drive in my unit was produced in August 2007 so this Fusion is end of 2007 at the earliest. Likely 2008."
So, you could take a look at your hard drive as it will have a date on it. I believe there are date codes buried in the serial number and bar codes on the underside of the Fusion as well but I'm not absolutely sure about that. Just about every product buries a date in there somewhere.
For instance on my 8HD...
- In the short barcode, there are two groups of 5 digits. The last four of the second group are 0908. Ex. 6 XXXXX X0908 6
- In the long barcode, if I ignore the last 5 digits, the 4 preceding digits are 0908. Ex. (21)AXXXXXX0908XXXXX
Sure looks like a September 2008 production date and that would make sense according to my hard drive date as well. The August 2007 hard drive had to go through quite a few steps including sitting in inventory for a while before it ended up in a Fusion.
To verify this date code location though, more of you will have to look at your Fusion barcodes to see if they make sense.

Alesis Fusion affectionately known as "The Beast" Serial Number from my 2005 Fusion 8HD that I preordered from Sweetwater before they were released for sale. My 2005 Fusion 8HD 6 9431800908 6
Serial number (21) A10503090800175At the time I was considering buying a Roland RD 700 until I read the article on the Fusion 8HD in Keyboard magazine. I paid a premium price for my Fusion 8HD, $1800 without memory upgrade, three years later I could have bought a brand new one with memory upgrade for $1000 But I love it and have no intention of ever selling it The 0908 is not the year of manufacture Maybe the 0503 in my serial number is the yy/mm of manufacture - March 2005?
