I've been living in Florida for almost a year and I just finally got around to unpacking the guitar-specific stuff. I decided to try a quickie hard rock multitrack'd song on the 6HD. Drums are a little too loud but it definitely does the job. Drums are the 6HD's "Metal Kit" Bass is the 6HD's "Finger Fretted Bass" All the rest is me playing the electric directly into the 6HD via SansAMP GT2 and Alesis Quadraverb GT (old school). No amps. Gotta say, it's cool having the multitrack directly in the workstation, especially for stuff like this. Download MP3

I don't think the drums are too loud at all; I'd say they were just right. (But then I do have hitting-things-ist leanings.) The overall level of the track is very low, though; is that you being cautious when mixing, or is it just that I listen to far too much over-compressed rubbish?

or is it just that I listen to far too much over-compressed rubbish? Ah ... the 'loudness wars' and compressing the crap out of everything to compete with shite 'in yer face' adverts on FM radio.... gotta please that 'yoof' demographic! But the topic of another thread I suspect! Steve

I agree. And the drums also I agree are not too loud. Sounds like a great mix to me!

gwen and steve:
VERY GOOD OBSERVATION. I purposely over-compressed the crap out of the final mix to give it that cheesy 80's FM radio sound.
That's a very good ear you both have. Good catch. ;D
We all do listen to too much FM-filtered sound and are mostly immune to it, however that is the sound I was purposely going for, so again, well done for catching it.
With synth-only compositions I absolutely do not compress anything if at all possible. But with rock tracks, I will wholly admit I "cheat" with compression for a "big flat sound", as I call it.
And to everyone else, thanks for the kudos, much appreciated as always.

Great stuff Rich. So seems you are as talented on the axe as on the keys then! Agree the drums sound fine on my system here. The Fusion does a very effective job of the rhythm section, and capturing the heavy guitar.
