A nice piece, although to my ear the background is a bit cluttered, but perhaps I just had wax in my ears or I was just groggy having woken up some time ago What is the background ambient sound that starts the piece (and continues throughout)? From Fusion? Can you describe what is better in the piano sound compared to ones in Fusion (or what's wrong with Fusion's)?

Yes, it's a bit cluttered. I didn't spend much time on the mix. Could make a better work :-)
The opening sound is from the Fusion, but reversed and delayed in Samplitude.
I've been using the PC1x for three years and I'm quite attached to it's pianos. The Fusion's are cool, but I don't have the same sensations when I play them. I still prefer my Kurzweil for pianos, strings ensembles and most of acoustic instruments, but I find pads, leads and flutes way better on the Fusion.

OK. Actually to me the Fusion's main piano (the holy grail grand) sometimes, when I begin playing, feels a bit too dark, but is OK after a while Speaking of flutes, I really like Fusion's Ebony flute, it sounds really expressive, BUT I hate the fact that its slow(ish) attack and the looping tremolo are in the sample, not in the envelope or LFO, and being a ROM sample it cannot be edited .

But you can lop the first 10% off the sample within the voice structure, so maybe that would help with the attack at least...? As for the tremolo, I'd have thought that countering it with an LFO (going the opposite way) would be possible nonetheless...

Thanks. I actually thought of those "countermeasures" as well, but did not yet try them. It just seems so stupid to have to do that. There may be problems though in syncing the LFO to the sample's loop start and frequency. And trimming from the start may take some of the character away. Perhaps I will still try those at some point, it would be nice to get at least the tremolo under mod control (e.g. aftertouch). And that might then be taken care of by modding the "counter" LFO inversely (more AT = less amplitude). But of course if tremolo frequency needs to be controlled then another LFO would have to be used on top. Sorry, perhaps these are already taken for granted by all of you; just thinking out loud That flute is nice as is though, if no rapid arps or long sustains are used.

Yea...just another Samplitude user Great software for sample editing, did you ever use it to create looped samples?

Yes, when I made a multisample from an East West Orchestra patch, I used Samplitude to recreate loops when they were not easy to find. That works great, but I also had to note the in and out values of the loop points on a paper since Fusion converter doesn't recognize a looped wav.

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Never mind the clutter - the stere expansion is awesome!!! (Or is it just my beyerdynamic 770's?) A good job, and a beautiful piece!
