Yo HoonThis is my first attempt to use a Fusion's drumkit. The opening loop uses a custom arpeggiator pattern that I recorded in program mode. That's a great use of Fusion : choose a drumkit program, make your own rythm pattern in the arp editor and then save everything in a "Drums" bank and you have an onboard drum machine. This is also my second song featuring my new Kawai K5000S.

deweak.free.fr/mp3/deweak_yo_hoon_black_hole.mp3This is the new version of my track : now there are vocals ! Ok, I don't sing very well and my English accent is not perfect, but with a good singer it should be nice :-) Lyrics come from a SciFi poem by Adam Rulli-Gibbs. I worked a lot on the drums, too. Now, they don't sound "pattern" like in the first version since I made many variations and fills. One could find a Gavin Harrisson inspiration there... I still have to record new guitars but the end of my work on this song is near :-)

Thanks :-) I've just uploaded a new version, with new vocals (I used my tube preamp for these takes), new guitars and some new sounds (the "Tape Watcher" patch is at the end of the solo). Same link : deweak.free.fr/mp3/deweak_yo_hoon_black_hole.mp3

Today : same link, new mix :-) And I recieved an e-mail from Adam Rulli-Gibbs, who wrote the text, allowing me to use five of his poems in my songs. Thanks, Adam ! His website is there : www.fantasticpoems.com/Poems/

Deweak,
Excellent track! I would like to add it to my collection for personal use only, with your permission?
Question: Your voice sounds great, did you add fx to the vocals and how? Can fx be added to audio tracks on the Fusion alone either as insert or end fx?
Keep up the great work.
Mark

Mark Thanks guys :-) Of course you can keep this song in your collection, it would be a honor for me and a great pleasure to know someone likes my work... My voice is not the final one since I don't consider myself as a good singer. I just feel ok to record myself for a demo track, not for a professional result. So. I only work with Samplitude Classic. The complete path for this vocal track is : - Microphone (AKG C414B-XLII) -> preamp (Studio Projects VTB1) -> Sound card (RME Fireface 800) - Samplitude with 24bit / 44.1kHz recording - Compressor, EQ, Akai Pitch Right (discreet but quite efficient), chorus (for a little fatter sound), delay and reverb For the backing vocals I only used the Pitch Right and a reverb (one take for the left side and one take for the right side, I don't like the "copy and delay" method to recreate stereo). In the Fusion, you can only use Bus effects for the audio tracks, not the insert ones. But for me, Samplitude is the best tool to record and edit, so I don't use my Fusion's sequencer (shame on me !)

Just gave this track a listen, at last... Of course you can keep this song in your collection, it would be a honor for me and a great pleasure to know someone likes my work... I think I will - thanks very much. It might not have the sound you were really going for on this track, which I can understand - but I think your voice is just fine! Indeed, it's not a million miles away from Seabound...

I think you could take some lessons to give you confidence in your singing.
