Hi, glad to see a dedicated forum for the fusioneers ;D need a bit of advice on two things i cant understand please. 1: When putting together the sounds for a mix or song, the va sounds seem to be hugely louder than the S+S sounds so therefore i have to have the drums at 90-100% and i have to drop the real synth sounds down to 13 or less in order to get a balance, is this normal?
2:When using the fusion with a software sequencer sometimes it feels as though a midi buffer or something gets jammed up and alll of a sudden there are massive delays between keypresses and the sounds themselves either using softsynths or the onboard stuff, if i reboot the fusion its ok again
Any Ideas Guys?

1. I think this has to do with the fact that a lot of sounds have a compressor insert effect. This makes the sound louder. When choosing this sound in a song without compressor, the volume is a lot lower. Also are some sounds programmed with lower osc-volumes.
2. I have had the same problem a while ago, i thought it had something to do with my computer, but it seems that there was (is?) a problem here.
What OS version are you using??

Hi thanks for replying, 0s is 1.23 also have one other question, is there a way of copying my favs to a bank of their own? i have organized favs 1 as basses, 2 pads etc, but i would like to get them in banks of their own as opposed to shortcuts to sounds within other banks

Just go into Edit mode and press Store, and save them to the appropriate place... I think you can create new banks from within Store.
As for the volume issue - the VA and FM oscillator engines are a lot louder than the sample one; that's by design (possibly it's so they can overdrive the filter...?) but it does mean you have to dial back the overall volume sometimes.

Creating banks this way can be fiddly but can be done. For real hard-core sound/bank management, you need to hook your Fusion up to your PC/Mac and organise things much like you would do on either platform's desktop. NOT FOR THE UNITIATED THOUGH... especially if samples are involved - you can make a real hash of things if you're not sure (much like screwing around with your PC's BIOS or Mac's EXTENSIONS folder, whatever... or screwing around with graphics or word files that refer to external files). As The Club evolves and we get the expertise on-board, we hope that such things can be explained. Right now though, it's early days so bear with us. But it can be done. As for the volume issue - the VA and FM oscillator engines are a lot louder than the sample one; that's by design (possibly it's so they can overdrive the filter...?) but it does mean you have to dial back the overall volume sometimes. It is much easier to digitally generate a sawtooth or square wave at absolute full level and these can 'sound' louder than samples, even if those samples are normalised. As such, you may well find VA synth sounds (and FM or PM sounds) to be louder than samples. Ultimately, you have to go with the flow according to the sounds you choose for your mix/song and yes - some programs will be louder than others and vice versa. And at the end of the day, that mix/song will be balanced by you according to its needs so I wouldn't worry about it! Steve
