A quick Hello to everyone.. At present I own a CME controller keyboard and a Juno-D. I bought both of them last Christmas. I am a wanna-be synth/keyboard player. I'm just learning. The Juno-D has not really been touched as that is kept upstairs. I will be looking at selling that. I have been looking around for a synth that would cover all types of sounds and I came across the Sonic.State site with the video's from the Namm shows showing off the Fusion. I will buy one after Christmas but I don't know if to by the 6HD or 8HD ?? I'll get to that later in the treads..
My name's David; I thought I would use telekon as my handle; the reason for this; I am a huge Gary Numan fan. From the old days through to the new stuff.. Telekon was an Album from years ago.. although I was in London this time last week at a Numan Mini Tour of the old album "Telekon" played it close to the original sound.. Fantastic. Hope to speak to many of you soon... And Merry Christmas.

Welcome to the Club from Salt Lake City, where it is snowing like a bastard.
The newest Numan keeps finding its way into my CD player.

Hi Moderator, thankx for saying Hello.. You may or may not know there are a couple of live DVD's of numan kicking around. They filmed the Telekon Concert so that should be out on DVD next year and Micromusic which was a fantastic video back from his original farewell concert when he was packing up touring. Well it's coming out on DVD. I guess you are playing the Jagged alum,; I have been told that the American version is different to the British version. I took my daughter to see Numan back in May; We meet him afterwards and my daughter (aged 12) has a signed Set list and his guitar plectrum. Anyway.. I am trying to learn some numan sounds, but i'm stuck on trying to pick up the rift from Are friends electric.. anyway I'm treating myself to a fusion after Christmas but I don't know ; should I buy the 6HD or 8HD does the weighted keys make a big difference. Anyway sorry to hear your up to your ears in snow.. there again as you may know Britain has been experiencing tornado's; something unheard of a few years ago.. global warming they say.. Happy Christmas.. David

I took my daughter to see Numan back in May; We meet him afterwards and my daughter (aged 12) has a signed Set list and his guitar plectrum. Nice Anyway.. I am trying to learn some numan sounds, but i'm stuck on trying to pick up the rift from Are friends electric.. C G A# F C G A# A#+1 E anyway I'm treating myself to a fusion after Christmas but I don't know ; should I buy the 6HD or 8HD does the weighted keys make a big difference. I always recommend the 8HD - delighful keyboard action (not too heavy, not to light) and worth the extra quid in the long term. But maybe for synth work, the 6HD would be fine. there again as you may know Britain has been experiencing tornado's; something unheard of a few years ago.. global warming they say.. Yes - the Eco-nazis are saying that but it's total bollox! The UK has regularly had twisters since forever and has the highest frequency of tornadoes for size of country in the world, even more than 'Tornado Alley' in the US (though nowhere near as destructive as those ... thankfully!). The strongest tornado ever recorded in Britain hit Plymouth in 1810 - it was reported to have reached 213mph. There was also a major one that cut a swathe from Buckinghamshire to Norfolk in 1950 so this is not some new phenomenon. Normally, they go unnoticed in open fields in the countryside or in places that are not newsworthy (like the one in Ceredigion, Welsh Wales, recently where farm buildings were demolished). This one just happened to hit London and so became headline news and a cause for alarm And whilst this may be a first in London, there was one in Birmingham last year. No doubt the eco-nazis will use this one-off in London to further their cause (and Ken will use it as an excuse to levy London drivers with yet more eco-taxes - it's all their fault after all!) but tornados are in no way a new phenomenon in the UK and are not attributable to climate change. 1810 - not too many 4x4s back then as I recall Steve

Thanx for the reply's. I did not explain myself correctly regarding te rift from Are freinds electric. I'm Ok! with the C G A# F C G A# A#+1 E.. it the repated pattern when Numan say's "So now I'm alone and I can think for myself" etc; I know, I didn't explain myself correctly.
Steve: Ref the tornado's; I knew we had been on the receiving end of tornado's but I didn't have a clue that we had seen so many and pretty poweful one's at that.. As they say.. You live and learn.. I'll pass the information onto my son (aged 13) he was looking for a project to do for school and I think you nailed it.. that will give him something to research...
"We are just sound" "We are just noise" "And we are all here to lie" "Do you dream?"

I'm Ok! with the C G A# F C G A# A#+1 E.. it the repated pattern when Numan say's "So now I'm alone and I can think for myself" etc; From memory, I think that bit is G D G+1 D F C F+1 C repeated and then back into the main C G A# F C G A# A#+1 E riff. Can't be sure tho. Steve: Ref the tornado's; I knew we had been on the receiving end of tornado's but I didn't have a clue that we had seen so many and pretty poweful one's at that.. Don't believe everything you read/see in the media - without wishing to appear paranoid, there's an agenda!!! Tornadoes are (and always have been) common in the UK but largely go unnoticed and unreported .... until they hit the capital at which point the sandal wearing beardy lentil merchants are all out proclaiming doom and gloom I'll pass the information onto my son (aged 13) he was looking for a project to do for school and I think you nailed it.. that will give him something to research... You can maybe also have him research oil fields that replenish themselves!!! Yep... there are those that would have us believe that oil is a by-product of decaying dinosaurs and pre-historic trees and in finite supply that will soon run out at which point we're all fucked and our infrastructures will collapse and our children will be doomed to a post-apocalyptic nightmare. However, that doesn't explain why oil fields previously considered dead and empty are now full of oil again!!! Seems that oil might actually be a natural by-product of the Earth's core's turbulent activities and (unreported) seismic research appears to be confiirming this. But news like this doesn't suit our governments' or the media's agenda And BTW, it was hotter in the summer of 1659 than it was last year in the UK. But that doesn't give the tabloids a good headline.. "Phew .. almost as scorching as 400 years ago"!!! Makes you wonder! Steve

Hi telekon! I'm quite partial to a bit of Mr Numan myself; I used to have many of his albums on vinyl... From memory, I think that bit is G D G+1 D F C F+1 C repeated and then back into the main C G A# F C G A# A#+1 E riff. Can't be sure tho. If my memory servers me halfway accurately, it's G D+1 G+1 D+1 D A D+1 A F C+1 F+1 C+1 C G C+1 B repeat again. Well, as someone on the left-libertarian end of the spectrum, I'd say there's definitely an agenda there, but for the most part it's a lot closer to "there's nothing strange going on, fossil fuels will last forever, these freak weather conditions are perfectly normal, and look! your next door neighbour could be a witch/communist/terrorist/paedophile! so trust your friends the government, keep quiet and keep shopping" and not so much "oh god, oh god, we're all going to die". Which is a shame, because the scientific consensus is that climate change is undeniable, that it's more likely than not to be caused by man, and that there's a good chance that by the time the world's politicians get around to doing anything about it, it'll be too late anyway, especially with the developing world belching out the kind of filth that has turned the atmospheres of Delhi and Beijing into permanent pea soup. And scientists being the kind of people they are, they tend not to just believe what they're told - the rock on which science is built is the concept that it's not real unless you can verify it; it doesn't mean scientists are completely immune to peer pressure and politicking, but it does make them more resistant than, say, journalists. Only this week it emerged that the way things are going, we won't have year-round ice at the Arctic within 35 years - let's just say I'm glad I'm living at the top of a hill in Sheffield, but my family in King's Lynn had better practise their swimming... Nonetheless, this is neither the time nor the place to be debating this subject, so I'll say no more on the matter unless it gets moved to the Off-Topic section.

If my memory servers me halfway accurately... ...which apparently it doesn't. Having just played it... G D+1 F+1 D+1 D A C+1 A F C+1 E+1 C+1 C G C+1 B a few times then G D+1 G+1 F+1 F C+1 F+1 E+1 C G C+1 B C+1 B C+1 B a few times then ...back to the verse riff

By the way, it's not C G A# F C G A# A#+1 E but C G Bb F C G Bb Bb+1 E - I know it sounds exactly the same and on a (equally-tempered) keyboard you play it exactly the same, but musically speaking my mind gets completely twisted and confused when seeing the A# instead of Bb
