On the other Fusion forum there is a post that says Guitar Center is selling HD6 for $500. and HD8 for $1k. 2 people say they got these deals at Guitar Center.

Either it's only an instore deal or they haven't updated their website yet; their price is still showing as $999.
Or it's playing rebate games - GC's website quotes the free pair of M1s as worth $499. In which case, it's not exactly a $500 Fusion...

Either it's only an instore deal Strikes me that's the case. Everywhere else, they appear to be normal price. Steve

What's really crap is there are GC staff saying things like "We've only got one left, it's a beat up floor model and it's discontinued"
In the face of such verbal crap Alesis should really take GC to task.
You could almost expect some back-handers have passed hands between GC execs and the likes of Boland, Borg and Ramaha.

Don't manufacturers usually have a minimum retail price? Meaning the lowest price at which retailers are allowed to sell. Maybe GC is dumping floor models or B stock.

After hearing about this on the other forum, I called my local Guitar Center and they said that it was for items in stock only as they are not carrying the keyboard in this location. There may be certain stores that are not carrying it, or possibly the whole chain, but he specifically said THIS LOCATION so, who knows. I do know guitar center can be pretty fickle when it comes to keyboards and tend to go with the more "mainstream" units. The guy from Guitar Center also said that since he had no more in stock at that store, they would sell me one for the discounted price from another store, but it would be considered a "final sale". I'm getting mine from Sam Ash anyone, so I didn't ask what that meant, but it didn't sound good for any hope of returning it to Guitar Center in case of a defective unit. I asked my guy at Sam Ash if he could match the price and he was going to check into it, so hopefully I'll have the best of both worlds. Great price, and support from the retailer. Hope this helps clear things up a bit.

As a former GC sales manager I can tell you that they refer to items that they sometimes refer to items being discontinued when they plan to not stock it any longer. It can be by region even. If they aren't shoving them out the door in mass quantities, they don't stock them. The region manager will look at a report, see that it is not turning over and they will change the status on the item. The store employee sees a discontinued code, tells a customer and an hour later the whole internet is in a lather about the XYZ9000 being discontinued. I have see it repeatedly on another site devoted to Synths.

Good job! Read the quickstart and check out the presets. Take it slow and steady. We have your back.

Well, my wife has just ordered a 8HD for me for $1000. And the local GC didn't have any any stock and every place he called only had one or two models and they were the on the floor and had no boxes abd probably no manuals either. So the GC salesman called Alesis themselves and they didn't have any 8HD either. So I don't think that GC are just full of crap. I think the Fusions are selling like crazy. I just hope I get it in time to enjoy while I'm out for the holidays and I can get the free monitors. For my tiny studio the is a wish come true.
