Hi All, I just bought my HD8 from musiciansfriend dot com and can't wait for it to get here. I'm a total noobie on the keyboard, but I'm home alot because of a bad accident. So, I've got some time on my hands.
I guess I'll be putting my laptop near the keyboard and doing lessons online.
If anyone has any good experiences with some online tutorial sites, that would be great.
Thanks and it's great to be here! Dylan

Hi Dylan,
Just a fellow member here saying hey. I wish you the best of luck with your new purchase and I hope everything goes well. Just as a precaution though, please make sure that your product package has not been re-sealed. Musciansfriend has been known to practice unscrupulous business dealings from time to time. I know this first hand,as I ordered the Alesis Multimix 12R from them, because no one else had them in stock at the time and I was told they had 7 brand new ones in stock. However though, when I recieve my package,my mixer had scratches on it and it was defective. Not only that, but they did not send me an invoice, nor did they send me the accessory that was supposed to come with the mixer. I don't mean to rain on your new purchase, but I just want to make sure you & no one else here gets burned. If by chance you should run into a problem, notify customer service by phone immediately & return it for a full refund. If this does happen, you'll be glad to know that bhphotovideo.com sells the Fusion 8HD for $1,119.95(you have to click on the "add to cart" icon to get the actual discounted price. They are a very reputable company that I have dealt with a few times and never had a problem. Hope you enjoy your new Fusion and I look forward to reading about your experiences with it-as I have yet to get one of my own ;D

Hang on a sec... I'm no lawyer, but as I understand these things, saying something like "Musciansfriend has been known to practice unscrupulous business dealings from time to time" is potentially libellous, and probably defamatory. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them, and you have every right to relate your bad experience - but I'm given to understand that being sued into bankruptcy by a large company because you generalised from your own bad experience to an allegation of malpractice without supporting evidence is not a pleasant experience at all!
Thing is - every company stuffs up at some point. Every company does something dodgy and annoys a customer somewhere along the line. One person's good experiences don't guarantee that everyone will have a pleasant experience, and one person's bad experiences don't mean that other people won't be perfectly satisfied with a company; similarly, there's a chance bhphotovideo will thoroughly stuff up your next order from them. It's much more likely that MF are simply a big company which is (as all big companies are) a bit too distant from its customers, a bit too focused on the bottom line, and staffed with a few too many people who don't give a damn, rather than a company actively seeking to defraud people.

Gwenhwyfaer,
Well,I won't go into details again(don't want to get sued),but I have a friend who has a friend that had a bad experience with them as well. As unsubstantiated as my story may sound to you,I never had an experience like that with any other retailer and I never had a bad experience with Sweetwater ever. They have been the best overall experience I've ever had and they are consistant with thier level of customer service and if something were to go sour somewhere along the way, they would at the very least apologize for thier error and go out of there way to make up for it. I understand to a degree where you are coming from, but with the first retailer I mentioned-it goes way beyond a clerical error and they did nothing to compensate for thier incompetence. It's seems pretty rotten that I have to be worried about being sued because I am trying to give consumers the courtesy of caution. I guess I should have worded it differently on this forum, but I submitted a customer review to thier site directly, outlining exactly what happened and titled the review "buyer beware",but I have not recieved any legal notices in the mail as of yet.

UK laws are not U.S. laws.
elwoodblues1969, Your comments are valid in helping out another forum member, THANK YOU!
Love live the Constitution of the United States of America, and freedom of speech.
But this is not how I wanted my first thread to begin.

UK laws are not US laws, no. For one thing it tends to be rather harder to win a libel case over here.
Moreover the US Constitution only states that "Congress shall make no law" to infringe free speech. It doesn't say that you can say what you please, whenever you please, without penalty; nor that anyone owes you a platform from which to say it. I'm actually quite fed up of seeing Americans making this very basic mistake.

Since when has the U.S. become a fascist, totalitarian nation whereas you are not even afforded the right to state your opinion in the name of consumer protection?
In case you have not noticed,I was being sarcastic when I said I was worrying about being sued.
Think really intently for a moment; do you really think it would be even remotely prudent business-wise on Musiciansfriend's behalf to legally bulldoze a customer because that customer recieved terrible customer service? Musciansfriend is a small, mail order and online service that does not even possess the resources to attack a customer.
I am not the only one on this forum that has complained about a business and besides which, one of the basic functions of a forum is word of mouth amongst users for the protection of users.
If a retailer operates in such a manner and people complain about it which in turn hurts the retailer, then it's the solely the fault of the retailer.
What? You think Musiciansfriend is going to step in and shut this forum down because of what I said?
You were exactly right when you said you were not a lawyer and you also do not live in this country,so keep your unsubstantiated paranoia to yourself and let it go.

And on that note, seeing that this thread is now so completely off topic and descending into a political bun fight best had in other, more appropriate venues........
Thread locked.
Please try to not let this happen again. If anyone has any questions regarding this lock, please feel free to PM me.
Rob.
